Swinging Seniors hold picnic
About 24 “Swinging Seniors’’
from Blyth attended the Seniors
picnic held at St. Christopher’s
Beach. Goderich on July 26. They
sat down to a sumptuous picnic
dinner at 12 noon and although the
day was hot it was very comfortable
in the pavillion by the lake.
Following this, president John
Hesselwood had a short business
meeting. Several games followed
with Vera Hesselwood passing
around a mystery package which
was correctly guessed by Mary
Walden.
Guessing the correct number of
candies in a jar was won by Lloyd
Walden. A lucky card game follow
ed and was won by four people
holding the gifts, they were Ida
Procter, Lloyd Walden, Feme Mc
Dowell and Edgar Howatt. The
“Elimination Game’’ was won by
Bill Craig.
The next game was throwing
balls in a pail and Ella Richmond
won for the ladies and Charlie
Smith and Jim McCall tied for the
men. Lloyd and Mary Walden
continued on with more games and
“Musical Arms’’ was played with
Feme Howatt and Jim McCall
winning this one. The “time race’’
of 90 seconds was won by Effie
McCall crossing the rope at the
exact moment. “Wink, Lose or
Draw’’ was the last game with the
women being the winners. This
ended the meeting but people
stayed on to visit and enjoy the
afternoon.
We are pleased to report that
Mary Wightman is recuperating
nicely following her illness. She is
now undergoing intensive therapy
treatment at Victoria Hospital
(Westminister Campus) London.
She is anxious for visitors.
