BY USA BOONSTOPPEL Two local landscaping 4-H mem­ bers received an award for com­ pleting 24 4-H projects at their landscaping achievement night in Bluevale on July 27. Barbara Glanville of RR 4, Walton and Cindy Stute of RR 4, Brussels both received a limited edition print for their dedication to the 4H program. Barbara has taken a wide variety of home-making and agricultural clubs but wants to do more animal clubs. This 18-year-old Seaforth high school student says she’s going to continue taking 4H and plans to become a leader someday. “4-H is a lot of fun and a good way to meet people,” she said. 20-year-old Cindy has been en­ tering 4-H clubs since she was 12. “I’ve really learned a lot, a lot of basic things that you use in every day life,” she said. Cindy has taken only homemaking clubs and also hopes to become a leader some day although now she is kept busy with Ruth Thamer celebrates 65th birthday Twenty-one members of the family of Ruth Thamer gathered at the home of Clint and Judy Emmrich in Walton on Sunday, July 23 to honour Ruth on her special 65th birthday. On the date of her birthday Wednesday, July 26, Ruth was a supper guests along with Isabelle Shortreed and Annie Reid with Allan and Betty McCall. 52 people attend Shortreed reunion On Sunday, July 23 the annual Shortreed reunion was held at the home of Ken and Judy Shortreed and family on the ninth line of Morris Twp. when approximately 52 people sat down to a smorgas­ bord meal at noon. Some enjoyed a game of baseball during the afternoon with several other games while others just visited as it was a very hot day. Relatives were present from Burlington, London, Shelboume, Stratford, Toronto, Wingham, Var­ na and surrounding areas. her studies at Wilfred Laurier University in Waterloo. Sorry Harvey, I missed one of your family. ( Huron Crime Stoppers On June 25-26, 1989 thieves made off with 19 head of cattle from a farm in Stephen Town­ ship. Fifteen of the cattle were crossbred Simental and Her­ ford, reddish in colour with white markings. Two were crossbreed Simental and Limo, reddish in colour with white markings. The remaining two were crossbreed Simental and Black Angus, black with white markings. The cattle were stolen from a farm that has no residence located on it. The thieves round­ ed the cattle up into the barn and then onto a truck. The Exeter O.P.P. and Huron County Crime Stoppers are ask­ ing for your assistance in locat­ ing these cattle which are valued at about $13,000.
