Ross Smith put on an enjoyable Air Show and a number of guests enjoyed the scenic tour of Brussels in Jim’s red bus. Visitors with Mrs. Glenna Steph­ ens on Sunday were Drs. Russ and Ruth Stephens and Dr. and Mrs. Richard Burgess (Louise Stephens) from Newmarket. The young people have just arrived from five years study at Oxford University, in England. Richard will teach Latin and Roman History in the Classics Department at the University of Ottawa, while Louise is going on to obtain her PhD. in Medieval French. Following a ‘hot’ game on Sun­ day in the Bulls’ Slo-Pitch Tourna­ ment, members of the Wroxeter Brewers enjoyed a cool dip thanks to the hospitality of Bob and Rene Seniors Day Centre news June was National Seniors Month. The motto for this year is “Tap the Potential’’. According to Jack Riddell, “the theme has a doubl message. To seniors it says: Use your wisdom and experience to discover new talents and explore new horizons. It is also a reminder that seniors are eager to meet new challenges and share their cre­ ativity, enthusiasm and experience with fellow Ontarians.” Christine and myself will take turns enjoying some holidays this summer. Charlene Conley from Lucknow, our summer student will be on hand to assist with operation of the program. Welcome Aboard Charlene. For your information, the Board of Directors has made a decision to change the name of the Day Centre to the Wingham and Area Seniors Day Centre. You will hear more about this once the change has become legal. Ethel Mrs. Elsie Cunningham cele­ brated her 95th birthday at her home on July 7. Many friends and relatives called to extend their congratulations. Mr. and Mrs. Wallie Krauter, on the occasion of their 46th wedding anniversary, entertained to dinner their neighbours Elsie Cunning­ ham, Edna Pearson and Bob and Olive Cunningham. Richmond. The Richmonds son John is a member of the Wroxeter team who made it to the ‘A Championship finals, before being defeated by the Brussels Bush- wackers. The Board held its Annual Meeting on June 26. Two of five vacancies on the board have been filled by Rita Rice Bowers of Brussels and Earl Hamilton of Wingham. Welcome to both of you. Rebekahs hold picnic On Wednesday, July 19 mem­ bers of Morning Star Rebekah Lodge held their picnic on the lawn at the home of Janet McCutcheon. Barb McCutcheon and Barb Ni­ chol conducted a very enjoyable program with everyone participat­ ing. After a delicious picnic pot luck supper, Annie Thynne cele­ brating her 89th birthday, was given birthday greetings and cake and ice cream served in her home.
