All the terriers, toy dogs and non-sporting dogs competed inside the arena at the annual Bluewater Kennel Club dog show at Blyth on July 4 and 5. There were almost 500 dogs at the show. Congratulations to Darrel Lavis of Clinton who obtained First Class Honours with Distinction in Grade 2 Rudiments in recent exams at the Royal Conservatory of Music held in Blyth. Ushers were Harvey, Deanna, and Shane Snell. Flowers in the sanctuary were from the funeral of Ken McGowan. Deepest sympathy is extended to Ella Carter and family from the congregation. Mr. George Cowan, supply minister, for the month of July, chose two scripture readings: James 2 (14-22) and St. John 21 (15-17). Mr. Cowan’s message centered on the theme of Faith and Christian service in light of the church’s statement of faith. One of the main duties of the church is the further extension of God’s kingdom. As a member of the church, what can each person do to accomplish this? First, he or she must give of his money. Now more than ever people must give to Missions and Services as givings are down due to the recent issue. > Also, each person must be a ritlinister, to help bring others into the cfitirch, to reach out to all, even sinners. He or she must witness to their children, being sincere help­ ing those around them who are in trouble and at all times try to turn injustices to good. RICHARD SNELL Richard Snell, son of Richard and Glenyce Snell, RR 1, Blyth, graduated from Nine College, Northampton, England, receiv­ ing The Higher National Di­ ploma in Leather Technology. The graduation ceremony took place at The Leathersellers Centre, London, England, on June 27, 1989. Richard placed third in his class and received a special award.
