Grey Central Echo
BY RACHEL VANVEEN AND
HEATHER THOMPSON
The grade 7 class, along with 12
chaperones, and two teachers,
went on their class trip to Quebec
and Ottawa June 11 to 16.
The trip started bright and early
Sunday morning, with the rented
coach leaving Grey at 6 a.m.
Everyone was excited and few
people slept, for the first leg of the
trip. A packed lunch was enjoyed at
noon, and for supper we all had fun
ordering in French at McDonald’s.
Following a delicious Big Mac
and fries, we headed for Laval in
search of our rooms. After inspect
ing our rooms we drove down to
Old Quebec City for an orientation
tour.
The next day, we again drove
down to Old Quebec, to spend the
day, with our chaperones, sight
seeing and souvenir shopping.
Later that evening, after a meal of
St. Hubert chicken, we all enjoyed
a swim at the University pool.
Waking early the next morning, we
left for an interesting day, touring ,
The Grand Canyon, Aquarium, Ste.
Anne De Beaupre, Montmorency
Falls, and the country side.
Wednesday brought a final trip
to Old Quebec to finish souvenir
shopping. Then it was back on the
bus for another long drive, and
another stop at McDonald’s.
Ottawa proved to be full of
walking tours and politics. It was a
chance to learn more about our
country and its government.
The drive home was quiet, as
many slept the six hours away.
Once again we stopped at McDon
ald’s for dinner. After supper the
chaperones entertained us with a
song they had written, that summ
ed up our trip.
On arriving home, we all jumped
out to greet our parents, and tell
them of the adventures we had
had.

by “The Chaperones”
(Tune: Beverly Hillbillies)
Come listen to a story ‘bout a
Grade 7 trip,
A bus load of kids and parents that
were hip.
Two awesome teachers and a driver
named Ron
We loaded up the bus and then we
were gone.

Well the first thing you know Mr.
Garland makes the rules
He says settle down you silly
country fools
Get the kids bedded down - they’re
out like a light,
Then it was meetings every single
night.
After pop, that is
‘Tater chips
Swimming pools
We headed down St. Louis Street
right thru’ the gate
Be back at five and don't be late.
Souvenir shopping just couldn’t
wait
To heck with the workbooks being
up-to-date.

Easy ones
Well the first thing you know the
money is all gone,
It’s still only Tuesday - but we must
carry on
We travelled to Grand Canyon and
Montmorency Falls
We walked on the bridge - one-
eighty feet tall.
Shaky, that is
Real high
Cool mist
Well the kids were all good, they
listened when we yelled.
They learned that French isn’t
always as it’s spelled.
We can thank Mrs. C. for a job well
done.
But when she puts her head down
be ready for the run.
Fast, that is,
Aching legs
Sore feet
Well we checked into Ottawa at ten
past six
Mrs. C. got the keys mixed up,
we’re really in a fix.
Took in the light show on Parlia
ment Hill,
By Thursday night, we’d all had
our fill.
Museums, that is,
Walking Tours
Modem Art
Now we’re all headed home - we’re
tired and we’re broke
If we see another Big Mac we’re all
gonna croak.
We had a lot of fun and we made a
lot of friends
We’re all very sorry that the trip
has to end.
