This is what the Brussels Midget Boys experienced last week when they lost to Ripley on June 15 and beat Blyth on June 18. However, pitchers Scott John­ ston and Andrew McCutcheon each struck out five players. Andrew and Brian Alexander had home runs in the first inning. By the time Sunday rolled around, Brussels was in fine form when they visited the Blyth team and smoked them seven to two. Andrew McCutcheon kept the Blyth boys at bay with 19 strike­ outs. After the first three innings, he kept them scoreless while they went on to score seven runs. Wilma pitched the whole game giving away three runs in the first two innings but leaving Clinton scoreless for the next three inn­ ings. Clinton got three runs in the sixth inning but couldn’t catch Blyth who already had 17 runs. Crystal Taylor was the big hitter for the Blyth ladies with two home runs in the first and sixth inning. Soccer to me A BUS TRIP TO LONDON by Tina Burkholder On Monday, June 5, the Grade 6 and 7 classes of Blyth P.S. went on a bus trip to London. When they got to London, they visited the India Archeological Museum. There, they were taken to a lecture room where a guide told them some facts about some of the things in the museum. They then split up into two groups. One group went to make a pipe and a bowl out of clay. The other group was told about an archeological dig that is under way at the site. Next the grade 6 and 7 students went to the London Free Press. Again, they split into two groups. Some of the things they saw were the press and the paper that is used Conrad Bos seems to be practicing karate while playing indoor soccer on June12attheBlyth and District Community Centre. Since the middle of May, kids between the ages of five and 14 have played soccer every Monday night. There are three age categories and the kids are coached by Herb VanAmersfoort, Hank Pardys, Hillie Blok and Anita Bos. in a week. The other group went to Victoria Park. At the end of the session, the groups switched. Afterwards, they went to Burger One got away King for supper. The Grade 6 and 7 students would like to thank Mr. Black, Mrs. Cronin, Mrs. Webster and Mr. Livermore for “putting up’’ with us on our bus trip. FARM VISIT by Kimberley Ferguson On Monday, Junez5, the Kinder­ garten class of Blyth P.S. visited the farm home of one of their classmates, Cathy Caldwell, whose parents are Gary and Joan. They saw a bull, kittens, ducks, sheep, cows, chicks, bunnies, hay, straw and an elevator. They were able to pet the sheep, kittens and dogs. Mrs. Caldwell gave the children an ice cream cone, apple or banana ^nd a chewy bar. Jackie Brak Qnd Jennifer Pierce were interviewed «*rd they said they both liked the cows, ’>olding the kitten, petting the sheep, u tractor ride and eating. They both enjoyed their trip. It was a sign of the times as Winthrop Peewees scored an easy victory over the Blyth team.
