Trustees question throne speech's education contents While the provincial govern­ ment’s Speech from the Throne refers to education as the “spring­ board to opportunity’’ trustees from the Huron County Board of Education have raised some ques­ tions about its contents. Jim Chapman, Trustee for Exe­ ter, stated that there are a number of things in the speech that will greatly affect the education sy­ stem. “Some of these things really aren't clear to me and I’m wonder­ ing if once we clarify them, we will still carry enough weight to change them,’’ said he. Mr. Bob Allan, Director of Education, replied that while he feels the Board members have a great opportunity for input he must point out that this is the policy of the government, to which Mr. Chapman responded, “A fait accompli.” “Your words not mine,” Mr. Allan added smiling.
