A presentation of thissash was made to Reverend Douglas Madge last Sunday at St. Paul’s Anglican Church in Wingham in honour of his 25th anniversary in the ministry. Assisting Rev. Madge are church wardens, clockwise from bottom left, Alex Nethery, Glen VanCamp, Harry Brydges, and Robert Johnston. Rev. Madge’s wife Colleen is in the background. Phone 887-9487 The U.C.W. of Knox United Church, Belgrave held their gener­ al meeting on May 25 in the church school room. Mrs. Loma Cook and Mrs. Olive Bolt conducted the worship service consisting of hymns, scripture and prayer. The meditation reading was entitled Compassion Burnout. Heather McIntosh, a member of the Campus Crusade for Christ from Guelph University, told about the 10 days she had spent in Mexico City with a group of students showing a film on the life of Jesus and handing out pam­ phlets about Christianity to the Mexican people. She also showed pictures taken during her time there. A second speaker was Verna Mae Brinsefield from Michigan who gave a very interesting Bible Study on the Beautitudes. Mrs. Marie McIntosh introduced these Community congratulates silver cup baby girl Congratulations to Margaret Elizabeth Vinoent, daughter of Neil and Joan Vincent, who won a silver cup for being the top baby in the baby show at the Clinton Spring Fair Saturday, June 3. Mr. and Mrs. Dwight Campbell of Truro, Nova Scotia and Mrs. Marilyn Thompson of Goderich were dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Bert Johnston on Tuesday, May 30. On Wednesday Dr. and Mrs. Charles Myers of Saskatoon, spent a few hours with Mr. and Mrs. Johnston. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Taylor met their son Dr. Ronald Taylor of St. John’s, Newfoundland in Toronto where they all flew to Tampa Florida and spent two weeks at Madira Beach, Florida. Mrs. Ruthe Coyne and Mr. and Mrs. Ron Kirkham and son Ken of Windsor and Mr. and Mrs. Law­ rence Taylor of Belgrave, were supper guests on Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. John Tompson, Michelle and Danielle of RR 2, Lucknow. Mr. and Mrs. Neil Vincent and daughter Margaret attended the convocation exercises at Guelph University on Friday, June 2 when Joan’s sister Sheila Osborne grad­ uated with a Bachelor of Agricul­ tural Science degree majoring in Agricultural Business. Members of the Women’s Insti­ tute held their District Annual meeting for the Huron West at Benmiller United Church Monday, May 29. Those present from this district were: Mrs. Jim Hunter, Mrs Clare Van Camp, Mrs. Pete speakers and they were thanked by Mrs. Mildred Yuill. The President, Mrs. Wilma Hig­ gins, conducted a business meet­ ing. An invitation was read from Calvin-Brick U.C.W. to a special meeting on June 21 at 8 p.m. Guest speaker will be Carolyn Vincent from Survival Through Friendship House, Goderich. It was decided to subscribe to 10 copies of the Mandate for another year. A change was made in the date of one of the Blyth Theatre suppers. Belgrave U.C.W. will now cater to these suppers on July 8 and July 22 at 6:30 p.m. The treasurer’s report was given by Mrs. Donna Shaw showing a balance of $540. There will be a Campsite Experience at Camp Menestung on June 12 to which everyone is invited The next meeting of the U.C.W. will be on September 28 when everyone is to bring an article for Friendship House, Goderich. Campbell, Mrs. Gamer Nicholson, Mrs. Norman Coultes and Mrs. Leonard James. The Belgrave Mites were defeat­ ed by Bluevale 18-8. Those scoring runs were: Marc Alexander, Adam Garniss, Peter Irvin, Ryan Cook, Michael McBumey, Jeremy Camp­ bell, Kevin Campbell and Jay Sanders. Mrs. George Procter, organist, presented a prelude of sacred numbers and also accompanied the choir as they sang “Saviour Lead Me”. Offeratory plates were passed by Ben Barnes and Ross Higgins. Preceding the singing of the second hymn, Rev. John G. Ro­ berts who conducted the service, announced his pleasure in welcom­ ing Mr. and Mrs. George Carter, former members of Calvin-Brick charge into Belgrave Knox United membership. They were received with the blessing of the elders and the hearty handclasp of the minister.
