The money will be used towards the purchase and installa tion of new standards and lights at the Brussels Ball Park. Optimist President Don Craw ford said that lighting at the park has been a concern for some time as there are several black spots on the field and someone is going to be injured sometime if this isn’t corrected. The Optimists have been looking after the ball park for quite a while, and the lights for the diamond is one of the last big projects in town. The lights have been ordered and delivery should take about two months. It is hoped that the work will be completed by the end of August. Glen McKercher Construction has volunteered to do the neces sary backhoeing for the project and B & G Electric has offered to do the trenching for the underground wires. Both have donated their time. Maitland Reddi-Mix will also be assisting in some manner with the installation. Total cost for the lights is $18,000. The major fundraiser for this will be the Optimist’s dance on August 19. Entertainment is by the infamous Doug and the Slugs. Anyone else who is interested in donating time or money to this worthwhile community project, should contact Don Crawford or any Optimist member. It would really be appreciated. ***** A donation of $200 has been given to the Scouts by the Opti mists for the purchase of uniforms. Two hundred dollars was also given to St. John’s Ambulance for a resuscitation “Annie”. Ainsley Wilson and Ashley Gropp performed at their ballet recital which was held in Harriston Town Hall this past weekend. Ainsley attended performances on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. While suffering from a case of chicken pox Ashley was only able to be present for the Saturday per formance. All three evenings were sold out.
