Employment equity in schools planned Education Minister, Chris Ward announced last month that beginn ing September 1990, Ontario school boards will be required to establish and maintain employment equity policies for women. Mr. Ward says that he expects school boards to develop plans to put these policies into effect, and to designate senior officials respon sible for their co-ordination. “From now on employment equity will be the rule, not the exception,” Mr. Ward said. The Minister also announced that the minimum objective for representation by women in certain positions of added responsibility will be raised beyond the current target of 30 per cent by the year 2000. The new goal of 50 per cent will apply to the positions of supervisory officer, principal, and vice-principal. CALL CITIZEN CLASSIFIED AT 523-4792 OR 887-9114 24 HOURS' A DAY
