The grade fives are helping the kindergartens at East Wawanosh Public School fill in time capsules that will be opened in the year 2009. The time capsules are part of the celebrations for the 20th anniversary of the Huron Board of Education. Belgrave Compiled by Mrs. Helen Stonehouse. Phone 887-9487 Motherhood topic at WMS KINDERGARTEN A NEWS by Natascha Muscheid and Desiree Curtis The kindergarten class has been busy with spring. The class went for an interesting walk around the school looking for signs of spring. Buds from trees was a sure sign of summer coming and so were the robins they saw Adam Potter was quite surprised when he found a toad. Finding pictures in magazines of things that start with b, c, and m, the class found fun and interesting as well. The class has been working on their journals, and on a time capsule with their grade five bud­ dies. For art their teacher, Mrs. Wilson made up a mixture of detergent, water and paint. With this mixture, the class blew bub­ bles from a straw onto a piece of paper and then popped them to make a beautiful picture. GRADES by Jennifer Elston The grade 1 class had a trip to London Regional Children’s Muse­ um. They went on a trip April 27. They took part in a Dinosaur or See a Star, Be a Star program. After­ wards they ate at McDonald’s. Grade 1 had a great time and they would like to say thanks to the four parent helpers. GRADE 2 On Thursday, April 27. grade one and two along with their teachers and some adult helpers visited the London Regional Child­ ren’s Museum. Melina Hussey and Jason McBurney from grade two wrote the following accounts of their trip. by Jason McBurney We went to London. We went in a big bus. When we got there, there was stuff to play on. After, we went into a museum. In the museum we dressed up into a dinosaur. It was fun. There was a lady who showed us some pictures of dinosaurs. There even was a sandbox that had dinosaur bones. Jeremy helped me find all the bones. After we got on the bus again we stopped at McDonald’s for lunch. It was good! Then we got on the bus and started home. On the bus I played Pen the Pig. I played with Mike. Mike won the game. Then we were back at school. by Melina Hussey Last Thursday we went to the London Children’s Museum. The school bus came to pick us up. On the way, me, Holly and Alicia played houses. It was a tie. (It was three, three, three.) After, we played going on a picnic. By the time we were done we were at London. When we got there, we got to play on a ship. It was wood. It was Noah’s Ark. We played there for a while. Then we Huron gets grants Minister of Community and So­ cial Services John Sweeney has recently advised of funding assis­ tance being provided to the Huron riding. The C.A.P. Program at Com­ munity Living Huron in Goderich will receive $4,700 in one-time multi-year plan funding to assist in the development of services for handicapped adults and children, and $1,400 in annual funding for the Community Activity Program. The Jack Reavie Vocational Cen­ tre in Wingham will receive $14,991 in additional year end funding to support people in employment stations in the com­ munity. went in. When we were inside a man called Stephen led us up the stairs. When we got into See A Star, Be A Star he talked about planets. We went on a pretend spaceship ride. We saw different planets. After, we looked at some­ thing like computers and dressed up into a sun, the moon and stars. After we looked at some constella­ tions. After that we had to go. We ate at McDonald’s. Me, Holly and Alicia got some cookies. We saved them for on the bus. On the bus we played Miss Mary Mac until we were at school. My dad had to pick me up. When I got home I told my Mom about the trip. Mrs. Ivy Cloakey opened with the poem “A Litany for Mother­ hood.” Scripture from Matthew 15 was read by Mrs. Mac Scott. Mrs. Robena McBurney read a medita­ tion and Mrs. Cloakey led in prayer. Mrs. Gamer Nicholson read a story ‘‘What makes a Mother’s Day?” Roll call was answered by six 13 tables at Shoot party Thirteen tables were in play at the Shoot party which was held in the Women’s Institute Hall, Bel­ grave, Wednesday, May 3. Winners were: high lady, Mrs. Winnifred Johnston; second high lady, Mrs. Margaret Robertson; low lady, Mrs. Gamer Nicholson; Visitors in Belgrave Mr. and Mrs. Brian Storer, Crystal and Adam of Kitchener were weekend visitors with her parents Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Hanna.
