THE CITIZEN, WEDNESDAY, MAY 3, 1989. PAGE 23. Blyth Festival Singers perform with guests Entertainment The Blyth Festival Singers and the Georgian Bay Singers, Owen Sound presented “Songs for a Festive Spring” on Saturday even ing, April 29 at Blyth Memorial Hall. On Sunday, the Festival Singers travelled to Owen Sound for a second joint concert in Westside United Church. A small but enthusiastic Blyth audience heard a wide variety of music. There were four joint choir selections, and each choir also sang two groups of individual numbers. Brass quartets in both Blyth and Owen Sound added much to the occasion for the opening and final selections, as did audience partici pation. There was a premiere perform ance of the Festival Singers’ theme song written by Mary Hearn with music by Angus Sinclair. Tuxedo Junction sung by the Festival Singers was accompanied on the drums by Gary Shouldice and on the bass by Bruce Pulsifer. At the conclusion of the Owen Sound concert, an encore of “Mine Eyes Have Seen the Glory of the Coming of the Lord”, sung by both choirs, the audience, directed by David Tupper, with Angus Sinclair on the organ and brass and piano accom paniment brought the evening to an enthusiastic close. President Ann Coulter noted that joint concerts such as were held last weekend provide a wonderful opportunity for choirs to enjoy music together. The Festival Sing ers will be providing the after- dinner entertainment at the Girl Guides of Canada/Guides du Can ada, Ontario Provincial Annual Meeting, in Kitchener on May 6, and singing at the Evensong Ser vice, St. Paul’s Anglican Church, Wingham on June 11th. They will also be participating in the Blyth Festival’s Opening Night Celebra tions on June 16. Angus Sinclair is the Director of the Blyth Festival Singers, Carol Carter the accom panist.
