At the regular meeting of Morn­ ing Star Rebekah Lodge, there was an attendance of about 60. Rebekah visitors from Monkton, Wingham, Listowel and Springfield were welcomed by the Noble Grand Janet McCutcheon who conducted the meeting. Five members were invited to attend a Friendship night in Goderich in May. The Degree Captain and her officers then conferred the degree on four candidates. Marguerite Crawford P.D.D.P. acted as Noble Grand. After this ceremony mem­ bers were reminded of Variety Fair May 5 and 6. Lillian Moses D.D.P. was paying her official visit to the Lodge and gave a very inspiring message on Friendship and Love and also reminded them of the District Church service in Bruce- field United Church May 7 at 9:30 a.m. She thanked her installing staff and all who had helped her. Many courtesy remarks were given by Rebekahs from visiting Lodges to Degree Captain Vera Hastings and her staff. After Lodge closed, a social time was held with a deli­ cious lunch served by Rene Rich­ mond and her committee. They too received thanks from visiting Lod­ ges and all present. Obituaries Douglas Warwick dies Continued from page 20 wife Alana of Meaford. Sadly missed by six grandchildren, sever­ al nieces and nephews, and his many friends. He was predeceased by his wife Helen (1985), and brothers Robert (1962) and Jack (1958). Funeral service was held on April 27, with burial at Greenwood Cemetery. As expressions of sym­ pathy, the family requested dona­ tions to the Canadian Cancer Society. VIOLET UNDERWOOD Violet Underwood died at Wing­ ham and District Hospital on April 26, 1989. She was 86 years of age. The former Violet Day was a life-long resident of Gorrie. She attended St. Stephen’s Anglican Church there and belonged to the Ladies’ Auxiliary Branch 307. She was predeceased by her husband Earl, one brother Edwin Day and one sister Mary Day. Left to mourn her are her son Jack and his wife Shirley of Wingham and two grandchildren, Kevin Underwood of Guelph and Brenda Sangster of Waterdown. One great-granddaughter Jackie Muir of Hamilton also survives her. A memorial service was held on the evening of the 28th by the Ladies Auxiliary Branch 307 at the Watts Funeral Home in Gorrie. Reverend Clark officiated at the regular funeral service on Satur­ day, April 29 at 2 p.m. Interment was at Gorrie Cemetery.
