Phone 523-4360 Lisa [Bosman] Elliott, formerly of Londesboro, receives an excellence in education award from John Jewitt, chair of the Huron County Board of Education during a ceremony in Holmesville Wednesday night. She was honoured for her activities in music at the school in the Dance Club and Special Events Club as President of the Students Council. Hullett Happenings EDITORS: LISA FINCH AND KERRI SZUSZ by Greg McCIinchey On Wednesday, May 10, Thurs­ day, May 11 and Friday, May 12 an enrichment unit on treasure will be conducted for a selected number of grade 5/6 students from Brookside, Colborne, Holmesville, Robertson, Victoria, Vanastra, Clinton, Blyth, Hullett, Seaforth and Huron Cen­ tennial Public Schools. The Wed­ nesday and Thursday sessions will be held at Colborne Central School and the Vanastra Rec. Centre. Each student will be allowed to snorkle and scuba dive. And on Friday it will be held in a wooded area. The students will be expected to cook their own meals. Later they will be split into three groups and they will be expected to use their new found skills to find a hidden treasure. 20TH ANNIVERSARY by Cheri Kryzanowski This week the Huron County Board of Education is celebrating its 20th anniversary and Hullett is marking its 23rd year of operation. Many events have been planned. On May 1 the Board hosted a special meeting for founding and former trustees and administra­ tors. On May 2 at 7:30 the Hullett Spring Concert was held, featuring an Operetta called ‘‘Mirror, Mirr­ or,” presented by grades 7 and 8. May 3 featured open houses at the Education Centre in Clinton and at the Learning Resources Centre, located on the C.H.S.S. Campus from 7 - 9 p.m. On the morning of May 4 classes are being organized to resemble one room schools. At 1:30, the school will be having an anniver­ sary celebration outside. Perfor­ mances by the band and Sr. Choir, the planting of a commemorative tree, and the hoisting of a new Huron County Board of Education flag will be happening. Friday, May 5 will be a P.D. day for teachers. Finally on May 6 there is a public dance to be held at the Seaforth Community Centre. Staff, parents, friends and community are wel­ come. Tickets are $10 each and can be reserved by calling the school. Congratulations to the Board. Advertising is a guide to fashion. The April meeting of the Happy Gang Seniors was held at the Londesboro Hall on Wednesday, April 26. Thirty some people sat down to a delicious pot luck dinner. The President opened the meeting with “O Canada”. The minutes of the March meeting were read by Edythe Beacom and adopted as read. Laura Lyon gave the Treasurer’s report. The May meeting will be another pot luck dinner at 12 Prodigal Father sermon topic at United Church Greeters at Londesboro United Church on Sunday, April 30 were Reg and Helen Lawson. Ushers were Rhonda Howatt, Michelle Dillon , Erin Horbanuik and Lindsay Salverda. The flowers on the memorial table were in loving memory of Marjorie McNall by her family and the flowers on either side of the pulpit were in loving memory of Olive Penfound by her family. The sermon topic was ‘‘The Prodigal Father”. Bible Study this week is orf Friday, May 5 at 1:15 p.m. in Auburn at Kay Lapp’s. There are no Youth Groups this week. She read another one ‘‘What is a Mother”. Seven tables of cards were played. Shuffleboard results The last Shuffleboard for this season was held at Hullett Central School on Wednesday, April 26 at 8 p.m. There were 14 present. High man was Les Reid. Ten members of Londesboro Happy Gang Seniors enjoyed the euchre and lunch at Blyth Legion Hall on Saturday afternoon. It was sponsored by Ladies of Blyth Legion. Lucky winners were Estella Adams, Margaret Good, Jean Scott, Vietta Hoggart and Ted Fotherpill.
