Phone 887-9487 Huron 4-H Sheep Club forms for season People Mr. and Mrs. Richard Moore visited her parents Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Liebrock and other rela­ tives in Leamington for a few days last week. Neighbours and friends of this community extend sympathy to Mrs. Bert Hastings and son Mur­ ray in the loss of a dear husband and father. The Belgrave Women’s Institute held its annual meeting on April 18 in the W.l. Hall. President Mrs. James Hunter opened the meeting with a poem about the Sugar Bush. After the Opening Ode and the Mary Stewart Collect, minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. Included in the business was an invitation to Dungannon W.I.’s 75th anniversary on June 1. There will be a bus trip from Belgrave on Tuesday, May 16 to Southampton and Douglas Point. The invitation being extended to the community to join in. Belgrave W.l. will be visiting Callander Nursing Home on Wednesday, May 24. There will be a cleaning bee at the W.L Hall on Monday, May 8 at 9 a.m. .The dinner for the East Wawanosh Public School graduation will be on June 22 with Mrs. Pete Campbell People around Belgrave Mrs. Agnes Bieman and her brother George Inglis visited on Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. John Leppington and family of Clinton. Douglas Bieman and Mrs. Shir­ ley Dodds of Kincardine were weekend visitors with his mother, Mrs. Agnes Bieman. Miss Dorothy Higgins of Callan­ der Nursing Home, Brussels visit­ ed on Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Ross Higgins. Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Stonehouse visited on Saturday with his sister, Mrs. Agnes Walker, who is a patient in Alexandra Marine and General Hospital, Goderich. and Mrs. Bill Fenton as convenors. Roll call was the payment of dues. Annual reports were given by: the Program Chairman Mrs. Clare Van Camp; Financial Statement by Mrs. Glenn Coultes; Curator report by Mrs. Ross Taylor and the President report by Mrs. James Hunter. After installing the new slate of officers, Mrs. Margaret Taylor of Londesboro, gave an interesting report of the Conference which she attended in Newfoundland. Highlights of the evening was the display of beautiful china painting by Mrs. Donna Johnston who also entertained with an interesting demonstration on how to do china painting. A delicious lunch was served by Mrs. Clare Van Camp and Mrs. Garner Nichol­ son with a social half hour follow­ ing. Mr. and Mrs. Gary Leitch of Waterdown spent the weekend with her parents Mr. and Mrs. Robert Grasby. Many people interested in sheep were present and accounted for at the first meeting of the Huron County Sheep Club which was held at the home of Mrs. Florence Pullen, Clinton. There were several new members as well as a few old members. After discovering 4H to the new members, those present were told of future e vents. They talked about the judging competition, Sheep Focus and the achievement day. The members continued on with their first meeting in the lesson book. They learned the duties of the executive. They then proceeded with the elections, the results are as follows: president, Cindy Camp- schroer; vice-president, Keith Todd; secretary, Lana Jones and press reporter, Jennifer Procter. After finishing the elections they continued on with the meeting and talked about lambing. After finishing the meeting they decided that the next meeting would be held May 10 at Cindy Campschroer’s. Florence Pullen served refresh­ ments and squares at the conclu­ sion of the meeting. Florence Pullen was then thanked for host­ ing the meeting and so ended the first meeting of the Huron County Sheep Club. 18 tables at Belgrave euchre party Eighteen tables were in play for the shoot party which was held in the W.L Hall, Belgrave, April 26. Winners were: high lady, Mrs. Jas. R. Coultes; second high lady, Mrs. Stuart Chamney; most shoots, Mrs. Vera Marsh; low lady, Mrs. Robert Grasby; high man, Mrs. Edythe Coultes (playing as a man); second high man, George John­ ston; most shoots, Jas. R. Coultes; low man, Mrs. Helen Martin, (playing as a man). There will be Shoot again Wed­ nesday, May 3 starting at 8 p.m. Ben Barnes of RR 5, Brussels receives an excellence in education award from John Jewitt, chair of the Huron County Board of Education at a ceremony in Holmesville Wednesday night.
