South Africa's blacks topic of Londesborough UCW meeting Compiled by Mrs. June Fothergill. Phone 523-4360 Kevin Shillinglaw of RR 1, Londesboro shows off his project on “Computer Components” one of the winners in the computer category at the Huron County Science Fair in Clinton Saturday. The April meeting of Londesboro U.C.W. was held at the church on Monday, April 17. Betty Hulley opened with a poem “Take Time’’. Margaret Good led in prayer. Betty Hulley read the scripture from Exodus. Margaret Good read about South Africa and the effects sanctions have on the black population causing unemployment and hun­ ger. The offering was taken up. Betty had a prayer to close this part of the meeting. President Mary Peel now took over the rest of the meeting. Bernice read the minutes of the March meeting. They were ap­ proved. Correspondence was read I including a thank you from .Joan Whyte. Kitty McGregor gave the treasurer’s report. It was moved to give a donation to the general fund. A nominating committee was ap­ pointed. Auburn Thank Offering is on Wednesday evening, April 19. Mary Peel closed with the Bene­ diction. Lunch was served by Norma Giousher, Betty Millar, Edna Reid and Rita Kelland. CCB Club opens season Shuffleboard results Shuffleboard was held at Hullett Central School on Wednesday, April 19. There were 11 present. High man was Lome Hunking; high lady, Helen lee. The last shuffleboard of the season will be held at Hullett Central School on i Wednesday, April 26 at 8 p.m. Jean Scott visits in Seaforth Mrs. Jean Scott visited with Mrs. Annie Reid of Seaforth and Mrs. Katie Stimore of Stratford on Sunday. Greeters at Londesboro United Church on Sunday, April 23 were Paul and Marg Brunkard. Ushers were Rhonda Howatt, Michele Dillon, Lindsay Salverda and Erin Horbanuik. The sermon topic was “More Questions People Ask: Part 3, ‘How Can I Be Happy’.” Bible Study is on Friday, April 28 at 1:15 p.m. at Don Haines, Auburn. There are no Youth Groups for two weeks. The Sunday School rummage sale on Saturday, May 13 from 8 - 12 a.m. at the church. Donations may be left at the Church on Friday, May 12, 7 - 9 p.m. and Wednesday, May 10 to Friday, May 12 from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. If you want something picked up call Mary Salverda 482-3106 or Lynda Horbanuik at 482-7585. The CCB Bluewater Club opened the season on April 18 at Wesley Willis United Church, Clinton with the President Marjory Lingelback Brocks celebrate 42nd anniversary Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Ray Brock who celebrated their 42nd wedding anniversary on Wednesday, April 19. Attention Happy Gang Seniors: Don’t forget the meeting and pot luck dinner at the Hall on Wednes­ day, April 26 at 12 o’clock. Anyone 55 and over is welcome to come to the meetings. Business was discussed and collection was taken up. Marjorie and Ken Lingelback gave a very interesting talk on their trip to Australia and New Zealand in the winter. God Save The Queen was sung. Nine mem­ bers answered the roll call with a current event. The draw money and collection was taken up. The draw donated by June Fothergill was 31 interested members attend N Huron Vet Club won by Edythe Beacom. Edythe Beacom read several pieces: “The Snow Drops”, “Maple Sweet­ ness”, “In The Forest”, a poem on “Granny” and an “Iroquois Pray­ er”. Edythe had a “green” contest and a “Name a Flower” one. had a trivia quiz. Cards played. Lunch was served by Knox and Edythe Beacom. Beth were Beth Once again with the coming of spring the agricultural 4H clubs have begun. The first meeting of the North Huron Vet Club was held Wednesday, April 12 at the Blyth Public School. This year there were 31 interested members, which was a large increase over the proceed­ ing club. The president is Tanya Boonstoppel. Nancy Siert- sema was elected vice-president. Anita Gross is to hold the position of Secretary and Jim Siertsema is the treasurer.
