He was 83 years of age. Mr. Hoover was bom in Grey Township and spent his years employed as a farmer, until he and his wife, the former Euretta Smith retired to their home on Flora Street in Brussels. He was a member of St. John’s Lodge #284 A.F. & A.M. and was also an active member of Brussels United Church. Besides his wife, four children are left to mourn him. They are Obituaries John and his wife Linda of London, Murray of Grey Township, Marian and her husband Don Eadie of Turnberry Township, and Sylvia and her husband Ross Gibson of Wingham. Mr. Hoover will be remembered by six grandchildren: Kevin, Steven, and Jennifer Eadie; Andrew and Mark Gibson: and Laural Hoover. A Masonic service was held Sunday evening and the regular funeral service was conducted on March 27, 1989 at the Watts Funeral Home in Brussels. Rever end Charles Carpentier officiated. Interment was in Brussels Ceme tery. Easter lilies, mums and hydran geas, placed in memory of loved ones, decorated the front of Blyth United Church for the Sunday morning Easter service. Greeters were members of the Sunday School: Julie McNichol, Christine Caldwell and Cathy Fra ser. The Junior choir sang “Have a Good Easter Day’’. The scripture reading was taken from Matthew 28 (1-10). The senior choir’s an them was “There’s a Green Hill Faraway”. During the offering, the combin ed senior and intermediate choirs sang “Alleluhia” and “Alleluhia Give Thanks”. Ushers were Michael Ansley, Michael Haggitt, Corey Shannon and Jason Badley. The title of the sermon was “Christ’s Resurrection - Our As surance of Hope”. Rev. Ramirez told of a Sunday School teacher in search of a picture, a visual aid, to help relate the message of Easter morning to her class. Since all she could find was a picture of Jesus on the cross, she became dismayed knowing that this was not the final picture. The empty tomb with the stone rolled away reveals the real message of Easter. It symbolized Jesus opening the door of new hope and life that we might enter in. By his resurrection, he took away the stone of hatred so that we can live harmoniously. His resurrection is a seal, our guarantee, our assurance that life is not just here but hereafter. Let us this spring as we look around the dismal country side look beyond and see the signs of new life in the budding crocus and tulips and know that out of chaos order will come. Many of us fear death and suffering but re member, after death comes our new home - a new life. A basket of seeds was presented from the Sunday School by Pauline Stewart and Tina Burkholder and were distributed to the congrega tion by Gr. 2 class following the service. DST starts Sunday It is once again time to spring forward! On Sunday, April 2, 1989 at 2 a.m. we will return to Daylight Savings Time, so remember to move your clocks forward one hour. This is the second year that Daylight Savings Time has begun on the first Sunday in April instead of the latter part of the month. This was done in the hopes that it would cut the cost of hydro and give us more spring and summer to enjoy. So remember it’s one hour forward. You don’t want to be late for church.
