Phone 526-7589 Knox Church, Auburn celebrates Easter Rev. Dave Snihur conducted the morning Easter Service at Knox United Church with Bernice Gross as organist and Nancy Park as pianist. Introit was by the Junior Choir. “Call to Worship” was read alter­ nately followed by the hymn “Christ the Lord is risen today”. The senior choir sang the anthem “Crown Him.” The children’s song was sung and Rev. Snihur told their story with puppets “Joe” and “Priscilla”. The prayer of approach was read followed by Easter prayer by Peter Marshall. The announcements were given. The hymn “Christ Arose” was sung. Rev. Snihur read the scriptures from Luke followed by prayer chorus “Have Thine own People Mr. and Mrs. Earl Liebrock of Atwood visited with Mr. and Mrs. E. Rodgers. Mr. William Anderson of New­ market visited with his parents Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Anderson on Easter weekend. Mr. and Mrs. E. Rodger visited Patti and Randy and Jeni Maize and celebrated their great-grand­ daughter Jessica’s first birthday. Don’t forget Knox United Church’s Old Fashioned Country Supper, April 5 to be held in the basement. For tickets, contact Margo Middelkamp 529-7785. Mr. Bob McIntyre of Stratford visited with his uncle and aunt, Mildred and Tom Lawlor on Sun­ day. On Wednesday, April 26 the Blyth Swinging Seniors have invit­ ed the Auburn Silver Tops for dessert and an afternoon of cards. Auburn 4-H meets by Susan Dobie and Cheri Kryzanowski On Monday, March 20, the “Knifty Knitters” met at the Auburn Missionary Church for their fifth meeting. The girls answered the roll call with products containing lanolin, such as soap, hand cream and shampoo. The girls were shown a display on different types of natural dyes, including beets, mums, grapes and dandelions. The girls were asked to bring wool for dying to the next meeting, which is to be held on April 3. The meeting closed with the 4H motto. Mail box spree nets pair fines A late-night spree in which a mail box was knocked down, stolen and abandoned in a ditch netted two young men fines in provincial court in Wingham Wednesday. Paul Hallahan of RR 3, Blyth and Dwight Hallahan of Diagonal Rd., Wingham pleaded guilty of mis­ chief and were each fined $250. The court was told that on Sunday, February 26 at 3 a.m. a Ford Thunderbird stopped at the mail box of Jerry McDonnell, RR 3, Blyth, people got out and started kicking and hitting the mail box until it fell down. The mail box was picked up, put in the car and the car drove away. The box was later found abandoned in a ditch. A third man, William J. The monthly meeting of the Women’s Institute was held at the Community Hall on March 21. The president Mrs. Don Cart­ wright welcomed all. The meeting opened with Institute Ode, Mary Stewart Collect and O Canada with Mrs. E. Rodger as pianist. Mrs. Cartwright read a poem entitled “The Old Wooden Tub”. Mrs. Tom Jardin gave the Tweedsmuir History of Auburn re - council, library, churches. Lions club, deaths, births, weddings and anniversaries. Mrs. Oliver Ander­ son showed a film “Auburn as it was”. Both were very interesting. There were 16 members and three visitors present. The minutes were read by the secretary KayLapp and Treasurer’s report given by Tina Empey. Correspondence was read and dealt with. The executive meeting will be held at Londesboro on April 3 at 1:30 to plan District Annual. The card report was given by Jean Plaetzer and she also spoke on the 4H Club. Roll call was answered by “A historical place in Ontario where you have visited”. The next meeting will be the annual meeting and plans were made. Evelyn Merrill read the origin of Eatser and had a contest and Betty Archambault was the winner. Evelyn also read a poem “Miracle of Spring”. “The Queen” and Grace was sung. The hostesses Tina Empey and Evelyn Merrill served lunch of hot cross buns, cheese and jam. Evelyn told “The origin of the hot cross buns”. The person with the birthday closest to the day was Betty Archambault and the lucky cup was held by Ruth Jardin. A social time ended the meeting. The annual meeting of the Women’s Institute will be held April 18 at noon at the Classic Restaurant, Blyth. Card winners announced The weekly euchre party was held on Tuesday evening, March 21 with five tables in play. Winners were: high lady, Mil­ dred Lawlor; low lady, Lillian Letherland; men’s high, Raymond Haggitt; men’s low, Erma Cart­ wright (as man); novelty, Ted Mills.
