Phone 887-6645 Wl distributes Blue Boxes Cranbrook Women’s Institute held its March meeting at Lois Hart’s home in Brussels. Plans were finalized to entertain at Callander Nursing Home birth­ day party March 29 at 1:30. A choir from Grey Central School will entertain the residents. Cranbrook W.I. will help distribute the blue re-cycling boxes in the Cranbrook area. Nancy Vanass will attend a township meeting to learn the particulars. - Seven members and one guest answered the roll call: “Name a herb you want more information on”. The speaker on the topic of herbs was unable to attend. Mem­ bers enjoyed a video of local dance skating champions Peter MacDon­ ald and Kerri Shepherd. Fridge magnets and pencils promoting 4H were given to everyone as well as copies of Home and Country. The evening ended with a tasty lunch served by Brenda Perrie and Jean Conley. Mrs. Stuart Stevenson attended the annual meeting of Stratford- Huron Presbyterial on Tuesday, March 7 in Knox Presbyterian Church, Stratford. Guest speaker was George Bullen from Goderich, Ethel Compiled by Mrs. Margaret McMahon. Phone 887-9250 The Ethel Women’s Institute held its agricultural meeting on Tuesday evening, March 14 at the Ethel Hall. Robin Dunbar, Grey Township councillor introduced John Under­ wood, past president of the Huron County Farm Safety Association. Mr. Underwood told of changes over the years since the implemen­ tation of the Safety Association. He also spoke on many of the new upcoming regulations for all farm­ ers. His last statement summed it all up: “Safety first will make you last.” The Ethel W.I. has been kept very busy cooking and serving pancakes and sausages at the Maple Keys Sugar Bush on Sun­ day. Special thanks to helpers Cathy, Sandy and Becky Earl, Nancy Smith and John and Carolyn Biesel. Fourteen tables of Euchre were who gave a talk and showed his pictures of China. Mr. Bullen spent a year there teaching English at a University. Visiting recently with Mr. and Mrs. Jack Conley were Mr. and Mrs. Bert van Donkersgoed, West Montrose, Mr. and Mrs. Dan Baljet and daughter Christin, London, and Nancy Jean Craig, Missis­ sauga. Echard Gillwald and friend Nora Birch of Mitchell and Mr. and Mrs. Angus Starr, Alliston, visited Don and Mrs. Cotton. Steve Knight and Neil Mitchell returned home on March 12 from a four month working holiday in Australia. Mrs. Jean Dunn and Mrs. Annie Williamson, Listowel, Mrs. Bill Armstrong, Fergus and Mrs. Ken Bray visited on Friday with Mrs. Mac Engel. About 30 people attended the Court Woodbine MIOO’s annual potluck dinner on Tuesday, March 14 at the Community Centre. Following a lovely supper Brother Harry Jacklin showed a video from the W.O.P.A. The evening con­ cluded with a sing song with Sister Mary Ellen Jacklin at the piano. played Monday evening, March 6 at the Ethel Hall hosted by Lou Raynard, Doris Jacklin and Jean Fraser. Winners were: high lady, Lois McLean; high man, Lloyd Smith; tally card draws: Keith Turnbull, Verna Crawford, Annie Engel, John Subject, Stan Alexan­ der, Joe Cooper, Becci Ruppel, Lois Hart, Cecil Raynard, Dorothy Cox, Irene McCreight, Robert Lesslie, Alice Stevens, Mildred Gill, Clifford Stevens, and Audrey Adams. Lucky cup winners were Isabel Bremner and Dorothy Hamilton. The next euchre will be March 20 sponsored by the Ethel Hall Board. Congratulations to first-time grandparents John and Joan Smith Alicia May is the daughter of Susan and Robert Farrish. John and Carol Boneschansker have a new grandson Michael John James, son of Bill and June Boneschansker.
