Patty Knight, Shane Wilson and Sean Jacklln, members of the Brussels Legion Pipe Band check out the new kilts that were part of the 10 uniforms acquired by the band from the Ontario Ministry of Culture and Communications through a provincial grant of $2,000. The band itself raised $10,000. Winners announced at euchre Brussels planters plan The Rebekah Casserole Supper Euchre was well attended and all enjoyed a delicious meal followed by ten games of euchre. Prize winners were: high, Ruth Johnston, Marguerite Sanderson; low, Wilda Bailey, Jean Ireland. Other prizes were won by Luella Mitchell, Sarah Stephenson and June Jacklin. The next Oddfellow Rebekah euchre will be held March 27. Twenty-two members attended the Brussels and District Horticul­ tural meeting held on March 13 in the library. Wilma Hemingway accompanied the singing of O Canada on the piano and the president, Jane White welcomed all to the meeting. The secretary’s and treasurer’s reports were read as well as correspondence regarding the Dis­ trict Annual to be held on April 8 at Douglas Point. Ruth Sauve report­ ed on the planning meeting she and the president had attended in Kincardine. Ila McLarty’s phoning list will be taken over by Isabel Adams. Wilma Hemingway moved that the Society plant flower beds at the medical building this year. A cattle beast slammed into a gate which hit Graham sending him several feet through the air. He was rushed to Wingham and District Hospital where he remain­ ed for more than a week, the first part of it in intensive care. The Horticultural Society received with thanks the sum of $500 from the town council to help with these plans. Eight members expressed a de­ sire to attend the District Anntial. Wilma Hemingway led in the singing of Irish songs accompanied at the piano by Freda Pipe. Mrs. Gladys Elsmore told how flower arranging has changed over the years and made a beautiful arrangement which was presented to Iona Moore in honour of their 40th wedding anniversary on March 18.
