Jan Van Vliet heads 16th Pork Congress planning Plans for the 16th Ontario Pork Congress are underway. ‘‘Any input is appreciated,” says Presi dent, Jan VanVliet of Brussels. The Ontario Pork Congress, lo cated in Stratford each year, has contributed vastly to the commun ity and the industry. ‘‘Our objec- tive is to produce a safer, nutritious product and do it with financial astuteness,” says President Jan. ‘‘Too long we take our food products for granted. We need better awareness from the consum er on all the precautions, details and dedication that it takes to put a pork chop on a plate. By the same token, producers better be con scious of the consumers’ demand for leanness, nutrition and safety. I believe we can do our jobs in delivering our part of the Ontario Pork Congress.” The first annual meeting of the Ontario Pork Congress elected Marinus Lips and Ralph Petersen as the new Directors. Also elected were Jan VanVliet, President; Sharon Heldmann and Doug Wheeler as Vice Presidents; and John Bowman as Recording Secre tary. Ross Shantz is Past President. YOU CAN COUNTON US!
