Phone 887-9250 Ethel Wl plans for Pancake Day Ten ladies gathered at the home of President Joan Smith for the legislation meeting of the Ethel Women’s Institute. As there was a lot of correspon­ dence to deal with each item was handled as it was read. An invita­ tion was received from the Gorrie W.I. to attend a Fun Day on March 16 at 1 p.m. Jean Fraser is to look after the attendance arrangements for Ethel. A lengthy discussion was held on the upcoming Pancake Day at Maple Keys Sugar Bush on Sun­ day, March 19. Barbara Grube is to chair the committee and get as many helpers as she requires. It was decided that the April 3 W.I. Euchre profits will be sent to the district coffers. All members are to help and donate the prizes. The March meeting is to be on farm safety and members were asked to invite the general public. It was decided to hold an open meeting at the Ethel hall. Bonnie moved to Brussels from Listowel in 1976 to operate her own hairstyling business. In March of last year she began a new career as a community correspondent with The Independent Newsmagazine in Listowel, working there until ac­ quiring the position with The Citizen. Bonnie and her husband, Mark, have four children, Jason 16, Nicki' 14, Ashley 7, and Joshua 6. The family resides in one of Brussels oldest homes which they have been renovating, “forever”. Sweet Adelines have been Bonnie’s hobby for quite some time. She has been a member of Mapletone Chorus in Listowel for 16 years and their director for about five years. She also enjoys reading, knitting and relaxing at the family’s trailer in Port Elgin. Bonnie is replacing Toby Rainey, who has left The Citizen to pursue a career in agriculture. to the following ladies: Myrle Bowes and Mildred Gill, 40 years; Helen Dobson, Lou Raynard, Doris Jacklin, and Thelma Keffer, 30 years; Barbara Grube, Helen Alex­ ander, Helen MacMahon and Joan Smith, 10 years. Lunch convenor Lou Raynard served fruitbread with cheese and a social hour followed. Congratulations to Bonnie Evans and Steve Connors who were married on Saturday. There were 17 tables of euchre played on Monday evening at the Ethel Hall convened by Joan Smith and Sharron Dobson. The next euchre will be held March 6, hosted by the Ethel W.I. Cecil and Lou Raynard had family members as guests over the weekend and celebrated some birthdays on Saturday at the Gold­ en Lantern Restaurant in Brussels. First place was won by Kimberley Richmond. All six competed at this level. 'Love' topic of Melville Guild Melville Presbyterian Guild met on February 21 at 8 p.m. in the church parlour. Margaret Work and Isobel Gibson were in charge of the worship period and chose as their theme “Love”. The table was tastefully decorated with a valen­ tine cloth and fresh flower arrange­ ment in keeping with Valentine’s Day.
