The race is on as members of the Blyth Cubs try out their Kub Kars for the first time on the track Wednesday night. The Cubs will go on to compete in the Huron District KubKar rally in Goderich on Saturday. Lions hold successful euchre The Blyth Lions Club held their regular meeting at the Blyth Me­ morial Hall on Thursday, Feb. 23. Twenty-four Lions and one guest were in attendance. Andy Lubbers was initiated into the club. He was sponsored by Lion Paul Kerr. The Lions members packed envelopes for the Easter Seal Campaign. The Lions Euchre Tournament Blyth. People Best wishes for a speedy re­ covery are extended to Evalena Webster and Doreen McGee who have been patients for several weeks in Wingham hospital. Their many friends hope to have them both home soon. Several Blyth families have en­ joyed a change of scenery through travel this winter. In early Febru­ ary Don and Lenore Scrimgeour enjoyed a well-earned one week vacation in the Dominican Repub­ lic. Last week Robbie and Carol Lawrie returned from a week’s holiday in the same locality, and back from an extended holiday in Florida are Fred and Mary Howson and Grant and Pat Sparling. They enjoyed ideal weather conditions during their entire stay. Mr. and Mrs. John Hesselwood visited recently with Mr. Randy McVittie in Toronto and Mr. and Mrs. Doug McVittie and family in Burlington. held on Saturday, Feb. 18 was quite successful. Twenty-nine tables participated. Kevin and Karen Coultes were the overall winners. Money raised from this event will be used for community projects. Another euchre is plann­ ed for April with proceeds going towards the Sunshine Foundation. The Lions have made the follow- The weekly Euchre at Blyth Memorial Hall Feb. 20 saw 13 tables in play. Nora Kelly and Ted Fothergill had the high scores while Ida Procter and Len Shob- brook had the low scores. Ruth Dougherty and Harry Crich had the most lone hands and Janie McEw- ing won the special prize. At the Lost Heir party on Wednesday night Feme Howatt and Edythe Giousher had the high scores, Ella Richmond and Harry Crich had the low scores. Feme Howatt was on the lucky chair. The winners of the Lions Satur­ day night hockey draws are: Feb. 11, Pat Shaw; Feb. 18, Harold Knox. Students between the ages of 16 to 20 who are interested in the Lions Youth Exchange Programme for this summer should contact Chairman Gordon Jenkins imme­ diately. The Lions 18th annual Little Lion Novice Hockey Tournament will be held Saturday, March 25 and Sunday, March 26 at the Blyth Arena. The first annual Service Club night will be hosted by the Blyth Lions on March 29 at the Blyth and District Community Cen­ tre. Guest speakers is Dave Murtha from Listowel. The next meeting of the Blyth Lions Club will be on Thursday, March 9.
