NOTICE BRUSSELS LICENSE OFFICE WILL BE CLOSED March 6-13,1989 Petro Canada office Open Correction Skaters did well at Nationals The Citizen wishes to apolo gize to our local figure skating champions for a story last week which inferred they had not done well at the recent Cana dian National Figure Skating Championships in Chicoutimi. As always, Kerrie Shepherd, Peter MacDonald, Kevin Whee ler and Michelle Menzies all turned in brilliant performan ces, and to imply otherwise was the result of our reporter failing to understand the intricacies of a very complicated sport. In placing 8th in the Junior Dance Division in their first year of Junior competition/Peter and Kerrie stated one of their best- ever performances, advancing an astounding 12 places over their fourth place win as Novices at the Nationals last year. Their goal was to be in the top half of the competition at Chicoutimi and they were precisely on target, placing above several Canadian Divisional champions to achieve this. In placing fourth at the Na tionals in their second year of Senior Pairs competition, Kevin and Michelle were also above their fifth place win last year; and to accomplish this, had to compete against three pairs who had all competed at both the Calgary Olympics and the 1988 World Championships. The Citizen joins with the rest of the community in sharing the pride of knowing such cham pions, all of them among the very best the nation has to offer. All four skaters will perform as guest skaters at the Brussels Figure Skating Club’s Carnival this Saturday, while Peter and Kerrie will skate as the stars of the Blyth Figure Skating Club’s Carnival on March 4. Both performances are expected to be sell-outs, so get your tickets early and avoid disappointment. 54” box spring & mattress valued at $700, with the purchaseof any in-stock bedroom set valued at over $900.
