Phone 523-4360 'Sacrifice' sermon topic at church Greeters at Londesboro United Church on Sunday, Feb. 12 were Garnet and Margaret Wright. Ush­ ers were Scott Shaddick, Billy Jim Scott, Kevin Shillinglaw and Law­ rence Bergsma. The choir anthem was “Let my people go’’. The sermon topic was “Are we ready for sacrifice.’’ Flowers on the memorial table were in loving memory of Hattie Snell placed by her family. The Huronview Fellowship will be held Thurday, Feb. 16 at 2:30 p.m. The Explorer girls will pre­ sent the programme. Bible Study will be Friday, Feb. 17 at 1:15 p.m. People The February Women’s Institute meet was cancelled on Wednesday afternoon due to the weather conditions. Shuffleboard was held at Hullett Central School on Wednesday evening. High lady was Geraldine Dale and high man was Lome Hunking. The prayers and best wishes of the community goes out to Mr. Lyle Adams of London, a former Londesboro resident, who was in a serious car accident on Thursday evening. The sympathy of the community goes out to the Radford family on the sudden passing of their father Leonard Radford and also to his brothers and sister. Auxiliary donates to hospital The Feb. 6 meeting of the Auxiliary to the Clinton Public Hospital was called to order by President Margaret Coventry. Following the Auxiliary prayer the President made a few brief remarks. She said she was pleased to present a silver baby cup to Kyle Joseph Feeney, the New Year’s baby. Each year the Auxiliary presents a gift to the first New Year’s baby. Catharine McKnight, represen­ tative to the hospital board, gave a brief report. The Vanishing Party card game will be held on Thursday, Feb. 16 at the Ontario Street United Church at 1 p.m. Memberships will be sold at the Vanishing Party at two dollars for a year. The Gift Shop will be open on Wednesday evenings from 7 - 8:30 p.m. On Tuesdays and Fridays two volunteers will be required. One will remain in the shop while the other will take the tuck cart to patients for their purchasing con­ venience. The new knitting and sewing convener is Ann Gornall. The Teen Volunteer Program now has 19 teens who are interest­ ed in helping at the hospital. Following the March 6 meeting the Teen Volunteers are invited to a noon luncheon. It is interesting to meet the girls, and hear from them what they do at the hospital and what their future career plans are. The T.V. Rental Committee have purchased 50 more head sets for patients use. Under new business the Auxil- ians approved a motion to donate $100 towards the purchase of a small radio for the OB Ward. A second motion approved was to purchase a V.C.R. and one-year membership in a Video Club. The V.C.R. and film will be used in the Extended Care Patients Lounge. at Beth Lansing’s in Auburn. The Senior Youth Group meets on Thursday, Feb. 16 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. for curling at Vanastra. The Junior Youth Group will be bowling Friday, Feb. 17 in Clinton from 7 to 9 p.m. The Boys’ Club will meet Saturday, Feb. 18 at 2 p.m. at Bergsma’s for skating and tobog- ganning. Next Sunday, Feb. 19 Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, Brownies and Guides from Blyth will be present at the Church. The Congregational Skating party will be held at Clinton arena Sunday, March 5 at 2:30 p.m. Choir practice will be next Sunday at 10:30 a.m. The U.C.W. meeting will be held on Monday, Feb. 20 at 8 p.m. Members should bring a small personal gift for the refugee family. Londesboro 4-H club forms On February 6, the members of the Londesboro I club held their first meeting at Sandra May­ berry’s. The topic this time around is “Working with Wool” and was well attended. Geoff King was appointed Drain­ age Commissioner for the township of Hullett for a period of six months when council met in special session January 24. Mr. King will receive $8 per hour plus mileage during the probation­ ary period. Council also appointed W. E. Kelly and Associates drainage superintendent for 1989. In a meeting January 17, Council gave permission for Whyte Bros. Farms Ltd. to install a propane pump and dispenser for their own use on their farm at lot 1, concession 5. Joe Gibson was named as the joint representative for Hullett, McKillop and Seaforth on the Ausable-Bayfield Conservation Authority. A by-law to authorize the carry­ ing on of a community program of recreation was approved. Hullett Township Council ap­ pointed its committees at an earlier meeting.
