edge Blyth 5-3
Brussels took an early lead and
never trailed as they edged Blyth
5-3 in W.O.A.A. Pee Wee play in
Brussels Friday night.
The smaller size of the Brussels
players didn’t deter them as they
outhustled and outchecked their
larger opponents for the win. Todd
Machan gave Brussels a lead
midway through the first with Brad
Beuermann assisting. Seconds into
the second period Greg Fritz

up for a goal early in the second
frame as Brian fooled the goalie
with an unbelievable slapshot.
Ryan Chamney then upped the
count to 5-1 as Jonathan Collins
point shot was tipped to Ryan at the
edge of the crease by Christopher
Howson.
Zurich once again stormed back
as they scored three straight goals
to close to 5-4 early in the third.
Blyth held their own the rest of the
way as Brian McNichol completed
his hat-trick with a bullet to the top
corner after some heads-up passing
from Jason Rutledge and Rob
Johnston. Ryan Chamney then
completed his hat-trick as he was
