Phone 523-4360 Senior Youth Group to meet in Clinton Greeters at Londesboro United Church on Sunday, Jan. 8 were Jim and Sheila Thompson. Ushers were Sharon Bergsma, Vicky Riley, Pam Salverda and Michelle Govenlock. The senior Youth Group meets next Sunday, Jan. 15 from 3 - 7 p.m. for a special meeting in Clinton at Wesley Willis Church. Choir prac­ tice is on Thursday, Jan. 12 at 7:30 p.m. Biblestudyis Wednesday, Jan. 11 at 1:15 p.m. at the Snihurs. The senior Youth Group meets at the Church Thursday, Jan. 12 at 6 p.m. for a pot luck dinner. Sunday School begins again next Sunday. A teacher’s meeting will be People Helen and Jack Lee and Audrey and Bob Thompson returned on Sunday from a two-week holiday in Florida. The first euchre of 1989 was held at Londesboro Hall on Friday, Jan. 6. with seven tables in play. Lucky winners were: ladies’ high, Eliza- bethLawson; ladies' lone hands, Marjorie Anderson; ladies’ low, Dorothy Daer; men’s high, Watson Reid; men’s lone hands, Les Reid; men’s low, George Hoggart. The next euchre will be in two weeks on Jan. 20 at 8 p.m. Special events will brighten winter weeks BY CHRISTINE GIBSON Happy New Year! The day centre opened its doors for the new year on Jan. 3, 1989. Everyone was back in good spirits but a few pounds heavier! December was a busy month at the day centre. We all enjoyed the turkey dinners and we thanked the volunteers for supplying all those delicious pies for dessert. We would also like to thank the local Girl Guides for the scrumptious goodie trays. We all enjoyed them over the holidays. The next foot clinic is scheduled for January 19 from 1 p.m. - 3 p.m. sponsored by the Community Nurs­ ing Services of Belgrave. For an appointment please call the Day Centre at 357-1440 or 357-1445. Our quilt tickets are still on sale. The draw will be made February 14. Tickets are available at the day centre or at Standard Trust in Wingham where the quilt is now being displayed. The January calendar is full of many different activities. “Jack Frost Week’’ is one of the special events being held the second week of January. Everyone will be wearing their favourite toque and many winter activities have been planned. A slide show will be shown during the third week of our Christmas Festivities. During the last week of January and the first week of February we are planning to start our ceramics program. Any volun­ teers that can help out with this program please let us know. Keep a look out for the date and time of the upcoming hockey game between theCKNXTriHards and the Lucknow Kinsmen. All proceeds from the game will go to the centre to continue the social and recreational programs. The winter months are especially hard for seniors to get around. It can be a very lonely time for these people. If you, or someone you know would benefitfrom coming to the day centre, please give us a call. held on Wednesday, Jan. 11 at 8 p.m. at the Church. The annual congregational meeting will be on Tuesday, January 31. A pot luck dessert will be at 7:30 p.m. The meeting begins at 8 p.m. The Minister’s Support Commit­ teewill meet onTuesday, Jan. 17 at8 p.m. Confirmation class for teen­ agers in high school begins on Saturday, Jan. 21 at lf):30a.m. at the Church. Huronview Fellowship will be on Thursday, Jan. 19 at 1:30 p.m. Ladies of Londesboro U.C.W. will have the programme. Adult Volleyball is on Friday, Jan. 20 at 8 p.m. at Hullett Central School. The Boys Club meets Saturday, Jan. 21 at 2 p.m. at Snihurs for games and skating. Bring hockey sticks. The sermon topic was “The First Miracle, Water into Wine’’. MPP Murray Elston, seated, was among those to sign the Brussels Legion’s Articles of Faith, following the Official Re-opening Saturday of the facility which was destroyed by fire last July. Brussels Legion Secretary Marg Bennett presided over the signing, while MP Murray Cardiff [left] and District Commander Glenn Bridge await their turns. The Brussels Legion is one of the few branches in the province to have as members two such high-ranking political figures as Mr. Elston and Mr. Cardiff.
