HORTICULTURAL SOCIETIES
AUBURN HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY, Maureen Bean,

The Society maintains gardens in the village, and holds
information meetings with guest speakers.
BLYTH HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY, Harve McDowell,

The Horticultural Society maintains gardens at the southern
entrance to the village, Memorial Hall, Horticultural Park and the
reservoir park. It also has regular meetings with guest speakers.
BRUSSELS HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY, Jane White, Presi

The Horticultural Societies play a major role in beautifying
their communities and provide information on horticulture to
members.
HURON COUNTY GENEALOGICAL SOCIETY.
The Society meets the first Wednesday of every month in the
basement board room of the Huron-Perth Assessment Office,
Goderich. The Society helps trace family histories providing a
library of books, maps and family histories, an index of all
cemeteries in the county and the expertise of other members with
long years of researching family histories. There is also a guest
speaker at each meeting. The Society’s librarian is Yvonne
Porter, 50 Maitland Rd. North, Goderich. Phone 524-9022.
THE HURON COUNTY HISTORICAL SOCIETY
The Historical Society is a group of volunteers who collect,
preserve and publish the history of the county. Members’
meetings are held four times a year. President, Keith Roulston,
523-4792 (work), 523-9636 (home). Secretary-treasurer, Mrs.

The Threshers hold a hugely successful Thresher Reunion at
the Blyth fairgrounds the first weekend after Labour Day each
year and, as well, provide a chance for lovers of old steam and
threshing equipment to meet and compare notes.

money for research into visual problems, funds to assist students,
an education program at the United Nations and other programs.

Through its Humanitarian Service Committee this sisterhood
raises money through card games, draws, bazaars, etc. to help
anyone in time of sickness, fire or disaster of any kind as well as
provide hospital equipment for home use.
KINSMEN

The Kinsmen is a strictly Canadian service club for men
between the ages of 21 and 40. The group engages in mutual
interest discussion and raises money to fund a wide variety of
community projects.

The Lions Club is one of the largest organizations in this area. An
association for men over the age of 21, dedicated to the health and
