Phone 526-7589 Beginning again Knox sermon's theme Rev. Dave Snihur conducted the morning service at Knox United Church Sunday and Mrs. Gordon Gross was organist. The flowers in the sanctuary were in memory of the late Mrs. Gordon McClinchey. “O Come All Ye Faithful” began the service. The Call to Worship was read alternately. “Joyful, Joyful, We Adore Thee” was sung followed by theprayerofapproach and the singing of the Lord’s Prayer. The announcements were given. The children’s song “I will enter His gates” was followed by Rev. Snihur telling a children’s bible Hullett council wants lottery bill rejected I Hullett township councillors held their inaugural meeting at the township office Dec. 6 and passed a resolution opposing a move by the provincial government to use lottery funds for other than recreational and cultural purposes. The resolution called for the provincial government to abandon Bill 119 or at least senl it to a committee where the Ontario Muni­ cipal Recreation Association and other sports, cultural, fitness and recreation organizations can parti­ cipate in full dicussion of the impact of the bill. The bill would allow the government to use lottery funds for purposes other than recreation and culture. Council also instructed the town- ship’s recreation co-ordinator to submit the names of Keith Allen and Mark Kennedy as nominees for the volunteer service awards of the Program Recognition Award of the Ontario Municipal Recreation Asso­ ciation. Snihur’s sermon was entitled “To Begin Again - Again”. The offering was received by Ken Ramsey and Peter Verbeek followed by the offeratory response, “We give Thee but Thine Own”. “ As with Gladness Men of Old” was sung. Rev. Snihur pronounced the Bene­ diction followed by the benediction response, “Go Now In Peace”. In other business, the road superintendent was instructed to purchase the transit of former drainage superintendent Norman Alexander from Mrs. Alexander at a price of $200. Road Superintendent Jim Johnston was also instructed to order 300 coniferous trees from the Maitland Valley Conservation Au­ thority. Ministry of Natural Resources officials are to be invited to a meeting to discuss the council’s concerns about parking at the Wildlife Area. Advertisements were to be placed in local newspapers for the position of drainage superintendent for the township. Councilapprovedsub- mitting a PRIDE application for assistance for updating the Hullett portion of the Police Village of Auburn for 1989-90. Tom Cunningham and Bob Szusz were appointed to meet with McKil- lop township and Seaforth to appoint a director to the Ausable-Bayfield Conservation Authority. Tom and Ruth Jardin spent last week in Kitchener visiting relatives. Mr. Harold Baechler spent Christ­ mas with his daughter June and Ron Foran and family. Christmas visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Tom Lawlor were their son Jim, Maria and Anthony of RR 5, Goderich. Mr. and Mrs. Tom Hallam spent Christmas with her son Norman, Elaine Culbert and Shelley of Goderich. Sympathy is extended to Gordon McClinchey and family and relatives on the death of Mrs. McClinchey of Blyth (formerly of the Auburn district) who passed away in Clinton Hospital in her 85th year. William Anderson of Newmarket and Charles and Glenis Liptrout of Torontoand Hexham England spent Christmas with the Anderson and Park families. Mr. and Mrs. Brian Craig and family of St. Jacob’s spent Christ­ mas holidays with their families in Auburn and Blyth. Sunday School at Knox United Church will commence again Sun­ day, January 8. Sympathy is extended to Irene Cardiff announces grants Murray Cardiff, M.P. for Huron- Bruce has announced that the Corporation of the County of Huron has been granted funding in the amount of $18,150 for the pruning and planting of trees in the Town of Wingham under the Unemployment Insurance Section 38 Job Creation Program. This will result in five jobs over a period of 50 work weeks. The U.I. Section 38 Job Creation program is designed to provide opportunities for unemployed work­ ers to maintain and utilize their work skills during periods when they are laid off and without other employ­ ment. Under the same program, the Town of Goderich has been granted funding in the amount of $73,330 for the clearing of 17 acres of bush at the Goderich Airportto make way for the new runway. This will resultin 11 jobs over a period of 210 work weeks. The Huron County Pioneer Muse­ um has been granted funding in the amount of $59,660 for the final stage in the expansion and renovation of the Museum. This will result in six jobs over a period of 156 work weeks. Clark, family and relatives on the death of Fordyce Clark who passed away at his home Sunday, January 1 in his 80th year.
