The traditional Christmas wreath
on the door will always be in style,
for it is one of the most widely
used symbols of Christmas hospi-
tality, There are many new ways
to use wreaths of various materials
for your door, but one of the most
attractive is still the simple wreath
of evergreen boughs with bright
red ribbon. The whole effect can
be enhanced greatly by mounting
an outdoor floodlight where it can
he trained on the doorway,
0 - 0 - 0
If purchasing a floodlight for
this purpose make sure it is made
by a dependable Canadian manu-
facturer and weatherproof. Use
floodlight kits that include 100 or
150 watt lamp, holder designed to
permit either ground or raised
mounting and weatherproof cord
and connections. You can choose
lamps in clear glass or in blue,
green, red, yellow or pink, depend-
ing on the effect you wish to create.
0 - 0 - 0
A more elaborate door decoration
may be created if you have a cov-
ered porch, It's easy to place ever-
green boughs under the cornice
of the porch roof and entwine them
with strings of outdoor Sparkle
lights.to give a bright, gay appear-
ance or the -softer Glow lights for
a quieter effect.
0 - 0 - 0
.If you are lucky enough •to have
two evergreen trees flanking the
porch steps they can conceal two
floodlights, one on either side, that
throw an upward beam to bathe
the entire entrance in an interest-
ing pattern of light and shadow.
The trees could also be decorated
with strings of lights.
0-0-0
Christmas is also a time for
common sense in using electricity
outdoors. It is perfectly safe, but
some simple precautions will not
detract from the pleasure of creat-
ing a beautiful decorative effect
for your home, Be sure the strings
and sockets are made in Canada,
to the safety standards of the Ca..;
nadian Standards Association, ex-
pressly for outdoor use. Sockets
should be plastic, with plastic clips
to ensure a firm attachment to
evergreen boughs and other ma-
terial,
