Joint Meeting

meeting of the W.A., arranged by
Mrs. Ross Sanderson and Miss
Mina Ball, who took for their
theme, "Go ye into all the world
and preach the gospel to every
creature", was held in the United
Church school room on Tuesday
afternoon of last week. The Scrip-
ture was given by Miss Ball fol-
lowed by the singing of a hymn
and prayer offered by Mrs. Gibson.
After the second hymn. the roll
call was answered by 12 members
with a verse containing the word
"light". Members were urged to
attend the joint W.A. and. W.M,S,
semi-annual meeting at Belgra.ve
on Oct. 26th, Mrs. Wm Taylor be-
ing appointed delegate.
The Lord's prayer was repeated
in unison and the remainder of the
afternoon was spent in quilting.
Lunch was served,

held last Tuesday evening in the
church school room with the :pre-
sident, Catherine Edgar, presiding,
The call to worship brought. the
meeting to order, after which 'the
members repeated their purpose
and answer, and the Lord's prayer
in unison, followed by the singing
of the national -anthem.
The Scripture lesson was read: in
unison and Carol Louttit offeied
prayer.
The leader, Mrs. L. McGee, intro-
duced the new assistant leader,
Mrs, Bill Brown. Thirteen girls
responded to the roll tall.
The meeting closed with the sing-
ing of the hymn "0 God Our Help
in Ages Past" with Leone Cham-
bers -at the piano.

day of this week, where they have

Ross Tomans visited Mr. Lloyd
Sage in the Kitchener-Waterloo
Hospital last Wednesday.
Mr. and Mrs. William Hart were
week-end visitors with their niece,
Mrs. Ernie Queen and Mr. Queen
in Kingsville.
Sunday visitors with Mr. and
Mrs. Richard Ingram were Mr, and
Mrs. Eldon Ingram, Carol Ann and
Roger and Miss Rhea Turner of
Stratford; Messrs. Everett Carpen-
ter, Fergus, Mr. Orval Ingram of
Rockwood and Mrs. Ida Ingram,
also of Rockwood. The latter is
remaining for a week's visit.
Miss Nancy Newton, London,
spent the week-erid with her mo-
ther, Mrs. R, Newton- and accom-

Mrs. Gordon Sutcliffe gaye the
Scripture lesson -and a thought-
provoking meditation on the Mir-
acle of Growth. The evening pray-
;r was offered by Mrs. .Ben Malda,
Miss 'Mary Lee Hollenbeek, soloist,
accompanied by her father, sang
''The 'old Rugged Cross" and "Have
Thine Own Way, Lord".
Every member answered the roll
call with .a verse of Scripture .con-
'raining the word thanks or thanks-
giving, The offering was received
and dedicated by Mrs. Andy Mc-
Kague. The Woman of Samaria,
was the woman of the Bible And-
'eld this month and was given -by
Mrs. Orville Hastings. Everyone
joined in singing the Thanksgiving
hymn, "Come Ye Thankful People,
Come",
Mrs, Ted English introduced the
guest Thankoffering speaker, Mrs,
Witham fipiera of Brussels. .Mrs.

Maitland Presbyterial, was a dele,

Howicic, met with -a painful acci-
dent on Saturday morning while
felling a tree on the farm of Ross
Anderson, B line. In some man-
ner the tree struck Mr. Charles.
injuring his back and leg.
Mr. and Mrs. Mae MacDonald
(nee Evelyn Montgomery) of De-
troit, had the misfortune to hit
tree when their car left the road
north of Brussels Saturday night,
Mrs, MacDonald is a patient In the
Wingham Hospital with a. broken
ankle and ribs while Mr. Moe-
Donald received minor injuries,
They were on. tbbir way to Wrox-
eter due to the illness of Mrs. mac.
Donald's mother, Mrs. Wm, Mont-
gomery, who is in the Wingharri
Rospital,
