and were enjoyed by everyone.

Clear of Work Done
By Cancer Society
WROXETER—The Women's In-
stitute held the October meeting In
the community hall on Wednesday
evening when they entertained the
ladies of the n'ordwich Institute. A
goodly number of members as well
as visitors attended this meeting.
Mrs. G, Greig presided while Mrs.
L4, Seifert acted as pianist,
The roll call was answered by
each member bringing a gift for
cancer patient, Many cards of
thanks were read. It was announc-
ed that the euchre parties will be
commencing shortly, Mrs. G. Greig
and Mrs, H, Adams in charge of
the first one, The next meeting
will be family night with a pot luck
supper when members will enter-
tain their husbands or friends. The
executive will plan the meeting.
Mrs, D. S. MacNaughton, Wing-
ham, gave a very enlightening talk
on' the local Cancer Society. She
told of so many taking' advantage
of the cancer clinic in Wingham,
there being '755 in the past year.
The society depends almost entire-
ly on the canvass of the district for
funds. Last year their quota was
overreached. This also helps with
the research carried on in the ef-
fort 'to find a cure for the disease.
She also told of the many visits
made by the members of the so-
ciety with the patients in homes
and hospital,
Miss Winifred Munro, teacher of
physical education at the Wingham,
District High School, enlightened
those present 'by relating what is
involved in her work, She said it
helps to develop skills and physi-
cal fitness, Increases their know-
ledge and develops good co-opera-
tion with others, The speaker also
reviewed the course of study in a
very interesting manner,
Two duets, "My Happiness" and
"Mansion on. the Hill" were sung
by Miss M, McElwain and Mrs.
George Richards and accompanied
by Mrs. K. Graham, were thor-
oughly enjoyed by all. Mrs, Har-
vey Wright conducted two contests
in which all participated, Courtesy
remarks were given by Mrs. H.
Wylie.
Lunch was served by Mrs. R.
Newton, Mrs. W. Wright' and their
committee.

Ross Tamane were in Kitchener
to visit Mr. Lloyd Sage, of Lisbawel,
who is a patient in K-W Hospital
following an accident last Thursday
when Mr. Sage took to the ditch to
avoid hitting a truck head-on,
which had turned out to pass an-
other truck. Mr. Sage suffered three
fractures to the right leg, a crack-
ed pelvis, facial and hand lacer-
ations which will keep him hos-
pitalized for four to five months,

work for this child to do and in
payment gave him the book. The
child was filled with joy.
