GORRIE—Miss Clare McGowan,
assistant local director of the
Children's Aid Society at Goderich,
told of the work being done by the
society at the August meeting of
the Gorrie Women's Institute on
Tuesday afternoon, at the home of
Mrs. Harold Keil. She was intro:.
duced by Mrs. Glad Edgar.
McGowan explained the arranging
of foster homes for children whose
homes were broken, of adoptions
and visits made.
The president, Mrs. Glenn Johns-
ton, announced that the• course,
"Foods Make a Difference", would
be held in the Orange Hall on
Thursday, Sept. 21st, commencing
at 10 a.m. Mrs: Clarence Spading
was named leader and Mrs. Johns-
ton assistant for the girls' project,
"Featuring Fruit". It was decided
to give $8.00 to the Agricultural
Society for prizes for junior club
work. Mrs. John Baylor will look
after the soldier at Westminster
Hospital for this month.
Roll call was answered by giving
a health-building habit and each
member presented a small gift for
a baby. Miss Bonnie Inglis of
Fordwich demonstrated care of
hair. •Gifts were presented to the
visiting ladies. Winners in the
Dutch auction were Mrs. Norman
Wade and Mrs. Gerald Galbraith.
'The lunch committee was Mrs.
John Baylor, Mrs. Carl Gregg and
Mrs. Russell Adams.

vidson, 76, died in London on Sun-
day, July 30, after a long illness.
Re was born in IViaryboro Town-
ship on February 12, 1885, the son
of the late Alexander Davidson
and his wife, Mary Fleming. He
was a member of the Gorrie Unit-
ed Church and was a. retired farm-
er.
On January 24, 1923, be married
Lena Martin, who survives with
one son, Earl, of Montreal and
three grandsons, three sisters, Mrs.
Norma Edgar, Laglace, Alta., Mrs.
Roger (Margaret) Fyfe, Harriston,
and Mrs. Oren (.Jessie) Clearwater;
St. Petersburg, Via.
