To Carry Materials
That 'Are Dangerous It was announced by Transport
Minister Rowntree that new regu-
lations had been passed with re-
ference to the carriage by road of
"dangerous materials".
While these were of an interim
nature, the Minister said they
would be followed by regulations
which would define more clearly
and specifically the requirements
for the carriage of dangerous ma-
terials. Li the meantime, he said,
the interim regulations would pro-
tect the public,
The regulations provide for spec-
ific signs on 'commercial motor
vehicles and tank trucks carrying
dangerous materials., These signs
,must be of a sharply 'contrasting
colour so as to be clearly visible,
and contain the common name of
the commodity, or an applicable
word as "Flammable", "Acid",
"Corrosive Liquid", "Compressed
Gas" or "Poison". Every !commer-
cial Vehicle transporting radio-ac-
tive materiel must bear signs Con-
taining the words "Radio-active
Material".
The Minister said that signs
must be carried on the rear and
both sides of all vehicles, and that
the lettering had to be no less than
three inches in height,
Mr. RoWntree added that those
new regulations did not apply to
the transportation of materials
covered by The Gasoline Bandling
Act and The Explosives Act (Can-
ada).
Anne Pickford and Patsy Walker.
Sheila Crowson walked up, having
joined Brownies at a later age so
that she was not able to complete
all the work before the .0.ge of
eleven.

Bombardier Seddon found that
he had a surplus of customary
cheese and crackers at the close of
the parade. There is a rumour that
he was able to eat them himself,
although I doubt it.
Following the Drivers' incident

were dismissed after being .remind-
ed that next week the Battery pic-
