MISS D. DOUGLAS WHITE0ITURCH - The regular
meeting of the WAS. of the Unit-
ed Charch was held on Wednesday
in the Sunday School room a the
church, with Mrs. Russell Gaunt
presiding and giving the ' call to
worship. She also led in the medi-
tation period, with the theme, "Let
God Guide". Mrs, J, D, Reecroft
assisted with the meditation, show-
ing that Christ calls for work, and
plans our lives with wisdom.
Mrs. Gaunt led in prayer, with all
repeating the Lord's prayer In uni-
son, Mrs, IVIillan Moore told of the
great naturalists, who found that
birds and animals had voices 'by
Which they could communicate with
others. Mrs. E, H. 'Groskorth led
in prayer for the missionaries and
for Miss Jean Stewart of Trinidad.
Mrs. .Beecroft gave a reading on
"Stewardship" and Mrs. Moore had
charge of the chapter from the
study book, "Ship under the Cross",
speaking of the Ecumenical action,
to witness in a world where we
must 'be responsible for actions in
our own country.
Mrs, G. E. Farrier reported that
five blankets had been sent to the
'bale, with five pyjamas and four
pairs of 'mitts. The next meeting,
with the 'birthday tea, will be held
at the home of Mrs. Albert Codltes.
Mrs. Moore closed the meeting with
prayer. Ten members were pre-
sent,

Lassies of the 4-H Club met on
Saturday at the home of Mrs. G. E.
Farrier with six girls present. All
repeated the pledge aro answered
the rill call by naming two fruits
they had eaten the day before,
Mrs, Farrier dictated notes for
the record hooks and Elizabeth
De Brun demonstrated making an
apple pie, which was later enjoyed
for lunch. Next meeting will 'be
held at the home of Mrs. A. N.
Coultes on June 3.

30th Anniversary
BLUEVALE- Mr. and Mrs, (lor-
don Hall and Mr, and Mrs, Will
.all attended a family dinner in
eonor of Mr. and Mrs. James Mas-
ters at the home of the latter's
daughter, Mrs. Steve Biller, and
'air. Biller, at Grimsby on Sunday.
Mr. and Mrs. Masters will celebrate
'.he fiftieth anniversary of their
marriage on June 7th, when they
will hold open house at their home
in Parkhill,
Mr. and Mrs. Masters were mar-
ried in the Methodist Church in
Bluevale in 1911.
Present at Sunday's reunion were
their son and two daughters, Mr.
and Mrs. Bob 'Masters, of Handl-
ton, Mr. and Mrs. Wilbert Dorman,
of Parkhill, and Mr. and Mrs. Steve
Biller; also the groom's brother,
Bob Masters, and Mrs, Masters, of
Woodville.
WHITECHURCH The W.M.S.
of the Presbyterian Church met in
the church on Wednesday last with
the president, Mrs. Johnston Conn,
presiding. Mrs. Donald Ross read
the'Structure message and Mrs. D,
Hill gave the meditation. Mrs. H.
D. McDonald led in the Glad Tid-
ings prayer. The roll call was ans-
wered by giving a Bible verse tell-
ing of bees and honey.
Mrs. Frank Coulter read an in-
teresting letter from the mission-
ary, Miss Dorothy Douglas, Mrs.
Donald Rom had charge of the
topic, "Together We Unite to Al-
leviate Human Need", telling of
the World Refugee Year, when re-
fugees were placed in camps and
homes. All joined in singing
"Where Cross the Crowded Ways
of Life".
Plans were made for delegates
to attend the Maitland Presbyter-
ial in Wingham and the meeting
closed with the Lord's prayer,

swimming classes are being organ-
ized for the month of. August
Registrations have been sent out to
all schools in Howlett Township
and surroundieee area with regis-
tration in all classes appearing
heavy.
Lionel Johnston, chairman of the
Water Safety committee, has an-
nounced the appointment of James
Ctelland, of Sarnia, as swimming
instructor, Mr. Clelland hoels
Royal 'Life Saving certificate and
is a qualified examiner.
The assistant instructor will be
,apponted very shortly. Classes for
adults are also open to anyone in
the area.

WHITEOHURCH --John Gordon,
eldest son of the late Mr, and Mrs.
Archibald Gordon of Kinloss Twp,
passed away suddenly at the farm
home of the three brothers, John,
Angus and-James Gordon of Brad-
prick, Sask„ on Friday morning.
He was in his 86th year and had
never married.
The two brothers, Angus and
.lames, and two sisters, Mrs. Errol
Duncan of Broderick and Mrs.
John McGee of Wingham survive.
Mrs, Gordon Dickison•of Teeswater
is a niece and Mr. James McBur-
ney, Teeswater and Fred McGee,
Wingham, are nephews,
Mrs. McGee and Mrs, Dickison
left on Surday from Mallon Air-
port to attend the funeral from
the Outlook funeral home on Mon-'
day, They will visit for a week
with relatives there.

lime on Sunday afternoon to at-
tend the annual Saugeen District
., church parade, the largest ever
' 'held in this district. Packs

Ripley, Hanover, Kincardine, Kin-
loss, Lueknow, Paisley, Walkerton
Whigharn, .Belgrave and Brussels
They formed- up on the grounds at
the community centre at 2.30 and,
led by the Belgrave Pipe Band,
paraded up Jane .Street, across to
'Station Street and down to Main
Street and so back to the commun-
ity centre for the service.
Throngs of visitors lined the
streets of the village to watch the
'parade. Taking the salute during
the march past were District Com-
missioner Archie Gowanloek of
Walkerton, along with. Reeve Clar-
ence Hanna of East Wawanosh
and Reeve Stewart Procter of Mor-
. ris,
The service opened with the plate
lug of flags, followed by the Na-
tional Anthem. Rev. J. H, Ander-
son of Knox United Church, Bel-
geleve, gave the call to worship and
the invocation, Rev. William Mor-
rison of Knox Presbyterian Church
led the responsive reading and read
the Scripture lesson, The addres,!,
"Tfre-Boy Makes the Man", was O,
livered by Col. Karl Kriig of W'r

Rev. Anderson closed the service.
with the benediction.

Greer and the former Mary Ainsley
Mr, Greer farmed in Howlett
Township,
He married the former Bessie
Holmes, of Molesworth, on Septem-
ber 4, 1918, who survives, with four
sons, John, Beamsville; James and
George, of Howick Township, and
Neil, of Listowel; five daughters.
Mrs. Russell (Mary) Tate, Toronto;
Mrs. George (Grace) Bruce, of
Islington; Mrs. Wm. (Betty) Moe
gam, Downsview; Jean, of Strat-
ford, and Joyce, at home One
sister, Miss Lillian Greer, Harris-
ton, and nine grandchildren also
survive.
Funeral services were held Fri-
day, 3.30, at the Moir funeral home
Connie, with Rev. J .W. Hird, of
Fordwich United Church officiat-
ing. Pallbearers were John Craig,
John Leppington, Gordon Hogg,
Harold Keil, Norman Harding and
Stewart Lovell. Interment was in
Fordwich Cemetery. •
