Visits at Arizona
LAKELET—Cards were received
from Laverne Webber from Palm
Springs, Nevada, en route to Phoe-
nix, Arizona, where Mr. Webber
and several young Harriston men
intend to spend a vacation of a
week or more,
MAUR CLUB MEETS
AT WINTON CHURCH
LAKELET—The Macbel Friend-
ship Club held its February meet-
ing in the basement of McIntosh
United Church, which opened by
the president, Jack Ferguson, with
a hymn. Scripture reading was
given by Gordon Wright,
The topic was given by Mrs.
Norman Newans, of. Behriore. Mrs.
John Rutherford, of Belmore, the
secretary-treasurer, gave the min-
utes of the last meeting, after
which the meeting closed with a
prayer by Bruce Harkness,
Wilfred Johann, of Belmore, took
charge of the social, which was in
the form of a progressive crekin-
oic game and was enjoyed very
much by all, The prize for the high
lady went to Mrs. George Penning-
ton, of Mildmay, and the high gent
was Norman Newans, of Belmore,
The consolation went to Mrs. N.
Newans.
Baptist Church
Mission Circle
The regular meeting of the Af-
ternoon Mission Circle of the
Wingham Baptist Church was held
on Wednesday afternoon at •the
home of Mr. and Mrs. W. Har-
court. The ,meeting opened by
singing, "Jesus Keep Me Near the
Cross", followed by prayer,. which
was led by the president, Mrs. A.
Rintoul.
The roll call was answered by a
verse of Scripture given from
memory. The missionary readin,es
were on Pakistan, taken from the
monthly publication of the "Associ-
ation of Baptists for World Evan-
gelism", The readings were given
by Mrs. W, Pocock, Mrs. tAitkinson
and Mrs. Stokes. The treasurer's
report was given by Mrs. Miles
Cameron,
Mrs. R. Kilpatrick, a visitor from
the Evening Auxiliary, gave a re-
port on the Pioneer Girls work
which has recently been organized
by the church for the junior girls,
and will hold the first meeting on
Mohday, March 6tiv, at 6.30 p.m.,
in the chureh basement,
The Scripture reading was Eph-
esiane 4:1-12, Mrs. p. Sinclair
brought a thought provoking de-
votional, taking as her text Ps.
126:6 "He that goeth forth and
weepeth bearing precious seed,
shall doubtless come again with
rejoicing, bringing his sheaves
with him."
Afterwards several members
participated In a season of prayer,
for the missionaries and for the
lost souls, who are dying without
Christ, in every nation.
After the business period, .lunch
was served and a time of fellow-
ship enjoyed.
Mrs. Shackleton
Conducts Study
The February 'meeting of the
Evening ' Auxiliary, Wingham
United Church, was held Tuesday
in the ladies' parlor with Mrs. H,
McArthur and her group in charge.
The worship was centered
around the theme "The Bible,"
With the opening hymn "Break
Thou the Bread of Life." Miss Cora
Gannett read the Scripture leseon
and Mrs. McArthur led in prayer.
A solo, "Somebody Else Needs him
Too," Was sung by, Mrs. Albert
Rintoul.
Mrs. Clayton Shackleton present-
ed the chapter of the study book
"Let's Communicate." The Offer-
big was dedicated by Mrs. Sari
Hamilton and "0 Word of cad, Ie-
ettratte" was sung.
The president, Mrs. Charles Odd-
gins, tofidUeted the businets. The
nieeting closed With the Mizpah
benediction and „a social flour was
enjoyed,

chine of Ray Gadke had the good,
fortune of hitting an artesian well
at a depth of 80 feet, It puniPs ap-
proximately 8 gallons per aninete.
This well is located at. Lorrel,
which is midway between Orange-
ville and. Shelburne,
Mr. Gadke's second machine,
which is located at V. R. Preus
of Palmerston, will complete a well
there this week. Mr. Gadke reports
that there is a very big demand for
wells.

Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Wright and
family visited with Mr. and Mrs,
Sydney Thompson, of Wingham,
on Sunday.

family visited with Mr. and Mrs,
Ed, Brautigam, of Clifford, on
Sunday,
Miss Chrystal Gadke, daughter
of Mr, and Mrs. Ray Gadke, had
the misfortune to fall on the Ice at
school on. Monday morning and
dislocated a finger on the left
hand. We hope it mends rapidly,
Mr. and. Mrs. Norman Harding,
of Fordwich, vlisted with Mr, and
Mrs. Bob Woods on Sunday.
Mr. and Mrs, Alvin Jack, and
Roy, of Listowel, visited on Sun-
day with Mr, and Mrs. Irvin Dick-
ert, Mr, and Mrs. Jack, former
residents of Lakelet, have' purehas-
ed a house in Listowel,
Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Greenly and
Laverne visited with Mrs. Alex
Foerthers, of 'Harriston, on Thurs-
day.
Quite a number of local Wing-
ham high school students , and
their parents attended the variety
program held In the school audi-
torium and reported a very enjoy-
able program indeed, proving that
all the talent is not on TV (yet),
Mr. and Mrs, Bob Allan and fam-
ily visited. with Mr, and Mrs. Bob
Burchill, of Wingham, on Sunday,
Mr, and Mrs. Ronald Dahms and
Susan, of Walkerton, visited with
Mr, and Mrs, Gordon McKee on
Sunday.
Mr, and Mrs. Irvin Reidt and
Glen spent a few days last week
with Mr. and Mrs, Paul Skaz, of
,Preston.
Mr, and Mrs Irvin Reidt, Messrs.
Bill and Charles Kroner spent
Sunday afternoon at Hanover at-
tending a rally at the Hanover
high school.
Mrs. Arnold Gadke and Mrs.
Lloyd Jacques attended the Ach-
ievement Day for Bruce County of
the project "Cottons May Be
Smart" which was held in the high
school at Walkerton.
