erling was hostess for the January
meeting of the Fordwich Women's
Institute. Mrs, Goosen Winkel
read the Scripture. Mrs. Fred
Hambly gave current events and
highlights of the news of 1960. •
Each member contributed money
to be used for a 'bursary for a
child who is a ward of the Chil-
dren's Aid Society. Letters were
read re films on safety in the
home. Mrs. George Richards re-
ported on sewing club for girls.
Mrs. Clarence Gibson gave the
-"Motto" "Don't be like a, rocking
chair, all motion and no progress"
She said progress is getting nearer
to what we aim at so a little
motion is necessary to reach our
goal, Mrs. Royden Devitt, recre-
ational officer, gave the topic,
Everyday Living.
Mrs. Anson Demerling gave a
demonstration on rosette waffles,
which the members all sampled.
Roll call "Ways to be a. neighbour",
brought a lot of splendid answers.
Mrs. Fred Humbly read a para-
graph about one of the local girls,
Miss Ruth Johnston, who is the
only Bell Telephone Company re-
ceptionist in Toronto. The meet-
ing closed with the Queen and a
delicious lunch was served,

Malton Airport Friday morning

was hostess for the January meet-
ing of the WA of Trinity Church,
held at the rectory in Gorrie, Mrs.
Ruby Foster presided.
The meeting opened with a
hymn and the Scripture was read
by Mrs, Attwell. Mrs. Spence.
Brears led in the Litany. Mrs. E.
Hargrave gave the treasurer's re-
port, and Mrs, Strong for the
Senior Guild.
Roll call was answered by ten
members with a New Year's reso-
lution and payment of 1961 fees.
Mrs, Emerson Hargrave gave the
chapter of the study book on the
four Area Agreements, Scriptures,
Creeds, Sacraments and Ministry,
and stated in these we have a great
opportunity for Christian witness
in embracing people of many races
and colors in other communions,
Business included giving out yarn
and quilt blocks for Dorcas work,
A get-well card was signed by the
members and gaze visitor to be sent
to a shut-in member,
Rev. Mr. Attwell reminded the
ladies of the vestry meeting and
pot luck supper to be held Janu-
ary 16th, also of Bishop Apple-
yard's visit to the parish on Janu-
ary 20th, confirmation service to be
in Trinity Church at 11,30 a,m,
Mr. Attwell closed the meeting.
Miss Elva Foster conducted two
contests which were enjoyed by all.
Lunch was served by the hostess
and Mrs. Ruby Foster. Next meet-
ing will be at Mrs. Roy Simmon's
on February 8th.
Round 2 was a good round but the Western Sandwich proved I,
hard to beat. We hope that all you good people who came out
and saw us, enjoyed yourselves and will be back to take full
advantage of our current special at the Marybelle. This week,

Attends Lions
Ladies of the Fordwich United
Church catered to the members of
the Howick Lions Club for their
regular monthly supper meeting,
held in the school room of that
church on Monday evening, Janu-
ary 16, when fifteen were present.
Rev. J, W. Hird, who was a guest,
and who also acted as pianist,
spoke a few words to the Lions,
complimenting them on the splend-
did work of the club, and wishing
them success in their work,
Guest speaker was zone chairman
of District 3 North, Lion Jack
Reavie, of Wingham, who spoke on
the subject of "New Membership".
A draw was held and those win-
ning prizes were Lions H. Town-
send, B. Templeman, A. Munro, G.
Edgar, H. McDermitt, R. Martin,
G. Moir, and Rev. J. W. Hind.
Final arrangements were made
for the Lions ,bonspiel being held
in Listowel, on Wednesday, ,Janu-
ary 18, in which sixteen rinks are
entered,
.A report was given on the pro•
coeds of the draw on the Christmas
doll, won by Linda, daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Clark Sharpin, of Wrox-
eter. The proceeds amounted to
$65.27,
The meeting closed in the usual

FORDWICH—The annual vestry
meeting of Trinity Anglican Church
was held Monday night in the
form of a pot-luck supper. The
meeting was opened with prayer
'by the rector, Rev. E. C. Attwell.
Minutes of last year's vestry
meeting were read by the vestry
clerk, John Gamble. It was also
reported that 1960 had been a very
good and busy year as the church
had celebrated its centennial year,
and all organizations reported and
showed very good balances. Dur-
ing the past year a new tile floor
was laid in the church and some
painting had been done,
Officers for 1961 are; Rector's
warden, John Douglas; people's
warden, Hector Browne; lay dele-
gates, Lloyd Jacques, William
Sothern; substitutes, Jim Foster
and Emmerson Ferguson; treasur-
er, Mrs. Peter Browne; missionary
treasurer, MM. Elsie Strong; au-
alters, miss Elva and Jim Fester;
vestry clerk. John Gamble; people's
board, Dave Dinsmore, Don King,
Oarn King, 'Roy Simmons, Glenn
Allan, Fatmerson Ferguson; sides-
mon, Bernald King, Gary Sothern
and Glenn Allan; ushers, Welling-

Installation of water in the
church was discussed and it is the
hope that this will be done this
coming summer, Several items of
