Mr. and Mrs. HiSlop
Return from South
WROXETER - Mr, and Mrs. Geo.
Hislop, Jr., have returned from a
very enjoyable trip to California.
On leaving here Christmas night
there was plenty -of snow but 'be-
fore long they were out of the
snowbelt and soon there was no
evidence of it. Arriving at Pasa-
dena Friday afternoon they re-
mained there to see the Rose Bowl
parade which, they relate, was a
beautiful sight to see with every
flower real. 'People slept in the
streets all' night to pick the best
viewing position to see the parade.
While in this district they visited
Hollywood, Disneyland, Knott's
Berry Farm and 'Marineland, then
journeyed on to Santa Monica and
visited a couple of places in Mex-
ico. They ran into a couple of sand
storms: crossing the desert in Ari-
zona and noticed snowfences were
used here to stop the sand. Beauti-
ful cacti grow in Arizona's desert
and mountains, some reaching the
height of 20 feet.
They stayed in motels at Tucson,
Arizona, Nashville, Tennessee,- and
attended the Grand Ole Opry barn
dance. Coming on to Detroit, where
they stayed the last night, they'
found the weather colder and -de-
cidedly cold when they arrived
home Wednesday but they have
many warm and interesting Mein-
orics to look hack on,
