Walker and Mr, Elmer Ireland were called to Goderich On jury duty for Monday, However, the duty • was cancelled, and although some of those were neti- fled, some of them made •the trip to Goderich leaving home before they got the message. Mr. Gary Morton, of Kincardine, conducted the service in ,the Pres- byterian Church here on Sunday. The Mission Band was held at,the home of Mrs. Earl Caslick on Sat- urday, and Mrs. Johnston Conn, Mrs. Walter Lott, and Mrs. U, D. Mr. and Mrs. Wilfred Martin and Sandra, of Stratford, visited on Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Howard Martin. Mr. Leroy Rintoul, of Milton, visited with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Rintoul, on Sunday. Mrs. Albert McQuillin is spending a few days this week with Luck- now friends. The villagers held a meeting on Monday night at the „home of Mr. and Mrs. E, H. Groskorth on the subject of drilling for a water sup- ply for the village and for fire pro- tection. This has •been a live issue her for -some time, as water has been very scarce this past summer. Miss Elaine Conn is teaching this week in a Woodstock school. Mrs. Robt. Aitcheson and child- ren and Mrs. Dowling visited on Monday with the latter's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Rooney, of Mount Forest. Mr. and Mrs. Adam Johnston and Myrtle, and Mr And Mrs. Gordon Jamieson, of Goderieh, visited on Sunday with .Mr. and Mrs. Robt. McInnis, Teeswater, and called on Mr. and Mrs. Jas. WILL RAISE FUNDS INSTITUTE TO .PAINT INTERIOR OF HALL WHITECHURCH — The regular monthly meeting of the Women's Instittite was held on Wednesday last at the home of Mrs. Victor Emerson with 23 ladies present and with the president, Mrs. Garnet Farrier, presiding. After the opening exercises, many thank' you letters were read from the elder citizens, who appreciated the Christmas parcels of treats made up at, that time, The treasur- er showed a fair balance On the books. The following business was dis- cussed: a prize to be given for the one attending most meetings dur- ing the Institute year; funds to be raised by the different groups for the painting of the interior of the hall and the south group decided to hold a euchre in the hall on Fri- day of this week with good prizes; and with all members helping with lunch. The roll call was answered with "What's My Beef?” Mrs. Russell Ross galre a splendid talk on Re- solutions and said that people should resolve to 'be .more kind and thoughtful. Mrs, .Albert McQuillin gave a reading "Little Breeches", and Mrs. Jas. McInnis spoke on Resolutions of Institute members, to use tact, patience and common Sense at the meetings. Mrs. J. D. The librarian, Mrs. D. Willis: gave the report for the four change of books received and the change of the pool books will come in March. A good discussion of the new library plan was held. Mrs. Willis reported 1190 books read this year compared with 1277 read last year. The following committees were appointed: Ways and Means, Mrs. Ezra Scholtz, Mrs. Victor Emer- son, Mrs. James McInnes and Mrs. John Gaunt; library board com- mittee, Mrs. ,Dawson Craig, Mrs, Garnet Farrier, the local teacher and from the Women's Institute, Mrs, J. G. -Gillespie; auditor, Mrs. George Fisher. The books showed a balance of $22.80. "Thou Shalt Not Be Afraid for the Terror by Night" was the title of a reading given by Miss Mary Stapleton. The devotions were given by Mrs. Don Sinclair, "He that goeth forth and weepeth". Following, the meeting a social time was enjoyed. Film Is Shown At A.Y.P.A. Meeting The A.Y.P.A. of St. Paul's Angli- can. Church held the election of officers at the meeting a week ago. Diane Deyell will be president for the year, Malcolm MacKay, vice- president, Lynda Templeman, sec- retary and Barbara Hall, treasurer. At - the meeting held Sunday evening of this week the new officers took over their duties. Miss DeYell opened the worship service with prayer arid the sec- retary and treasurer gave their re- ports. It was decided to sell pens to raise funds to carry on the year's activities. An invitation was received and accepted to attend a Huron Dean- ery skating party in Brussels on January 25, Broomball will be played after skating. Rev. C. F. Johnson showed a film, "The Bible around the World". The pictures showed translators at work, so that the Bible may be distributed to more people of th,, world. Contrast was made be- tween North .Arnerlea, where Bibles are plentiful arid each person may have one of his own, and countries Where it is hard to obtain the printed Gospel. In many places people feel fortunate to be allowed one Bible to a family.
