Pre- Pared by the. Stnall Business Branch of the Department of Trade and Commerce, Selling to the Can- adian Government is being distri- buted to:businessmen attending the Current Export Trade Promotion Conference in Ottawa. The manual details the methods and procedures of Federal Govern- ment procurement, with informa- tion about tenders and contracts. ;k1 bu Services are divided into profes- sional and commercial, with a com- plete analysis by type. Most con- struction, it is explained, is handled by the Department of Public Works, but four other departments have the authority to contract in some measure, on their own, for public works. The manual describes how pur- chasing is handled by the nine de- partments which handle 90 percent of alt Federal Government procure- ment. The purchasing offices of each department are listed,. An appendix notes 72 categories of goods and services purchased, with a breakdown of each into as many as 20 individual items and a clear indication as to which are used by the various departments.
