Canadian Gov't,
The Canadian Government, the
largest single buyer Of goods and
services in Canadai has just issued
ii, manual on its requirements. Pre-
Pared by the. Stnall Business
Branch of the Department of Trade
and Commerce, Selling to the Can-
adian Government is being distri-
buted to:businessmen attending the
Current Export Trade Promotion
Conference in Ottawa.
The manual details the methods
and procedures of Federal Govern-
ment procurement, with informa-
tion about tenders and contracts.

Services are divided into profes-
sional and commercial, with a com-
plete analysis by type. Most con-
struction, it is explained, is handled
by the Department of Public
Works, but four other departments
have the authority to contract in
some measure, on their own, for
public works.
The manual describes how pur-
chasing is handled by the nine de-
partments which handle 90 percent
of alt Federal Government procure-
ment. The purchasing offices of
each department are listed,.
An appendix notes 72 categories
of goods and services purchased,
with a breakdown of each into as
many as 20 individual items and a
clear indication as to which are
used by the various departments.

The regular meeting of Turn-
berry Township council was held
on December 15th at 10 a,m. in the
community hall, Bluevale, with all
members present, and the reeve,
W. Jack Willits, presiding, The
minutes of the last regular meeting
and special meetings were read and
adopted on motion 'by W, Harry
Mulvey and A, D. Smith.
Communications were received
from Department of Highways,
'Stratford; Municipal Board, Can-
adian Mental Health Association,
and Roy Adair, Wingham.
