PARKING HUTS OUT WHEN DRIVING Here's a tip to ,,,motorists who turn on their parking lights when driving at dusk or during 'had weather. Under the Highway Traf- fic Act, parking lights may only be used when the vehicle is parked, and if used When driving, the operator is subject to a $10.00 fine for the first offense and up to '$50.00 for subsequent offenses. This item from the Apt is little known and many motorists; lli that by 'turning oh theite'parking lights at dusk or in bika weather they have Complied with the law gland are safe drivers, The reason the 41.e of `parking lights is forbidden when driving, is based on common sense. An- otiher 'motorist could confuse these lights with those on a stationary vehicle, and an accident could re- sult. The answer, if conditions war- rant the use of lights, turn on your headlights, it is safer, and the legal way to drive. On top of that it doesn't cost you any more to operate your. Car with headlights than parking lights because there are no electric meters in cars. The debate that followed indicated clearly that the Provincial Depart- ment of Municipal Affairs has available the service and guidance needed by many municipalities and municipal afficiale.
