PARKING HUTS
OUT WHEN DRIVING
Here's a tip to ,,,motorists who
turn on their parking lights when
driving at dusk or during 'had
weather. Under the Highway Traf-
fic Act, parking lights may only
be used when the vehicle is parked,
and if used When driving, the
operator is subject to a $10.00
fine for the first offense and up to
'$50.00 for subsequent offenses.
This item from the Apt is little
known and many motorists; lli
that by 'turning oh theite'parking
lights at dusk or in bika weather
they have Complied with the law
gland are safe drivers,
The reason the 41.e of `parking
lights is forbidden when driving,
is based on common sense. An-
otiher 'motorist could confuse these
lights with those on a stationary
vehicle, and an accident could re-
sult.
The answer, if conditions war-
rant the use of lights, turn on your
headlights, it is safer, and the
legal way to drive. On top of that
it doesn't cost you any more to
operate your. Car with headlights
than parking lights because there
are no electric meters in cars.

• heavy- onto with three night Sittings
and daily sittings commencing at

During the week Mayor Gordon
Levergne, M.P.P. for Russell, ex-
plained his position with respect to
matters in Eastview concerning
which there had been an investi-
gation and much comment. The
debate that followed indicated
clearly that the Provincial Depart-
ment of Municipal Affairs has
available the service and guidance
needed by many municipalities and
municipal afficiale. It also Melte
cated that to force supervision 'by
department officials from Toronto
on any municipality would forever
put an end to municipal autonomy
which in our democratic land would
never be tolerated by our people,
Debate continued on the Speech
from the Throne and on the un-
employment problem with members

their views on record. So far this
