The rites of Holy Baptism were

Mr. and Mrs. Eddie Mundell and
Mr. and Mrs. Nile Soehner and
family of Kitchener, spent the
week-end with Mr. and Mrs,
Everitt Allan.
Lorne Wilson, 7-year-old son of
Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Wilson, had the
misfortune to have part of his toe
taken off, when in some manner a
horse stepped on his foot, he was
taken to Palmerston where he was
attended by Dr. Vanner,
Mrs, George Holland and chil-
dren of Harriston, spent a day last
week with Mr. and Mrs. Spence
Brears.
Mrs, Ruby Forester of Toronto,
spent the week-end at her home
here.
Mrs. Elmer Giles and Gary of
Arkona spent the week-end with
Mrs. Martha Baker.
Mr, and Mrs. T. J. Schaefer were
in Kitchener Friday, attending the
funeral of the latter's aunt.

Mr. Cecil Wilson was confined
to Palmerston Hospital a few days

FORDWICH a The November
meeting of the Forciwieh United
Church W.M.S. met at the hdme
of Mrs. Pearl Patterson, Mrs.
Stanley Bride presided, opening
with a remembrance meditation.
Mrs. Crosby Sothern read the min-
utes. The roll call was answered
by a verse on love, Mrs. William
McDonald, Mrs. Elmer Harding
and Mrs, Stanley Bride gave re-
ports, on the sectional rally held in
Wroxeter last month,
Mrs, Ken. Graham offered pray-
er. Mrs. Wallace Gibson was lead-
er for the worship. Mrs. Henry
Howe, Mrs, William Clyne and
Mrs. William Lloyd read passages
of Scripture. Mrs. Clarence Care-
well, Mrs. Elmer Harding; Mrs-W.
Gibson and Mrs. E. Darcey took
the study on "The Turning World",
telling how the refugees still live
in other countries.
Mrs. Jack Wilson favoured with
a solo. Mrs. Stanley Bride closed
the meeting.

In London Hosp.
FORDWICH—Mrs. Emma Collins
underwent surgery in Victoria Hos-
pital, London, last week. Mrs.
Collins was 97 years old on October
22nd and at press time was feeling
quite chipper and inquiring about
the folks at home.
Bronze and yellow mums and
candelabra formed the setting in
Wingham United Church on Sat-
urday afternoon at three o'clock
for the wedding of Ruth Elizabeth
Showers, of Sarnia, and Kenneth
Gordon Hopwood, of Hamilton. Mr,
and Mrs, Charles W. Showers, of
Wingham, are the parents of the
bride, and Mr, and Mrs. Charles
Hopwood, of Stratford, are the par-
ents of the groom,
Rev. T. G. Husser performed the
ceremony. A. D. Bennett, organist
Of Wingham United Church, played
traditional wedding music and ac-
companied the soloist, George Cull,
Mr. Showers gave his daughter in
marriage. She chose a floor-length
gown of white peau de sole fash-
ioned on princess lineseThe bodice
was designed with a scalloped
neckline edged with alencon lace
trimmed with pearls and lily point
sleeves. Lace medallions trimmed
the skirt, which swept into a
chapel train. A crown of pearls and
crystals held her finger-tip illitsion
veil and she carried a bouquet of
white mums, centered with a mauve
orchid.

ter of the bride, was matron of
henna and the bridesMaid was Miss
Helen Clark, of Sarnia. They were

dresses of imperial green crystal
charm fashioned with front sheath

skirts. Their bow headdresses and
shoes were in matching color and

the best man. The ushers were Bill
Power, of Toronto; Ray Hopwood,
of Stratford, brother of 'the groom,
and Glen Showers, Wingham, bro-
ther of the bride.
A flowered purple crepe with
black accessories and a corsage of
yellow mums was worn by the
bride's mother, while the groom's
mother chose a sapphire blue dress
with pink accessories and a pink
carnation corsage. They received
the guests at the reception which
followed in the church parlors,
Mrs. Hannah AShton, of Strat-
ford, grandmother of the groom,
was a guest at- the wedding.
Mr. and Mrs. Hopwood, who plan
to live in Hamilton, are spending
a two weeks' honeymoon in Jam-
aica. For travelling the bride wore
a green wool dress with matching
hat and a mauve orchid corsage,
Her other accessories were black,
She is a graduate of the School of
Nursing, Stratford General Hos-
pital.

died at her home on Saturday at
the age of 80 ,years. The funeral
service was from the Kress funeral
home in Durham on Monday after-
