Mrs. McMillan Was
Lifelong Resident
Mrs. Harriett Ann McMillan,
life-long resident of Wingham, died
at the Wingham Hospital on Sun-
day. She was 85 years of age. Mrs.
McMillan suffered a stroke a week
before her death.
She was a daughter of the late
Frederick and Mary Ann Roderus
and was born fir Wingham. She
married Mr. McMillan in 1930 and
he passed away the following year,
February, 1931,
Survi.ving are a sister, Mrs. Ada
Stranford, Wingham, and a broth-
er William Roderus, of California;
four nieces and two nephews, Mrs.
R, E. Armitage, Mrs. M. Swanson,
Wingham; Mrs. J. Mickle, Wal-
laceburg; Mrs. A, W, Ney, Merrit-
ton; G. R. Laundy, Buffalo, and
Dick Roderus, California, as well
as. several great nieces and neph-
ews. She was predeceased by five
sitters and a brother.
Funeral service for Mrs. McMil-
lan, who was a member of St.
Paul's Anglican Church, was con-
ducted by her rector, Rev, C. F.
Johnson, at the S. J. Walker funer-
at home on Tuesday at 2 p.m., with
interment in the Wingham Cenri-
dory, The pallbearers were Tom
Cruickshank, Norman Keating,
Captain Newman, Gordon Cerson,
P. J. McKibbon and Roy Manuel.

Died in 86th Year
A respected resident of Wing-
ham for many years, Mrs. H, a
Elliott, died in the
eral Hospital. on Thursday of last
week after being in poor health
for some time. She was in her 86th
year,
A daughter of the late Mr. and
Mrs. Gavin Davidson, the. former
Elizabeth Davidson was born in
Harriston in 1875, but Moved to
Wingham Junction in $894.
She .was married to H. B. Elliott,
who was publisher of the Wingham
Times until its incorporation with
The Advance in 1924, Mrs. Elliott
was a member of the Presbyterian
Church.
Surviving is one daughter, Mrs.
A, J. (Vera) Armstrong, of London;
two grandchildren, Mrs,' DeWitt
Miller and Robert Casemqre, both
of Wingham, and five grAt-
grandchildren,
Service was conducted at the R.
A. Currie & Sons funeral home on
Monday afternoon at two o'clock by
Dr. Alexander Nim'mo, and inter-
ment was in the Wingham Cem-
etery. The pallbearers were J, P.
McKibbon.. Spence Scott, Ken.

Funeral Today
A widely-known resident of
Turnberry Township died suddenly
on Monday of this week, Robert B.
Aitken, was 'born at :Glenannan on
September 1st, 1892, a son of the
late Thomas Aitken and Eliza
Townsend. He was educated and
farmed all his life in Turnberry,
His. wife, the former Ella Tripp,
died in 1925.
Mr. Aitken was a faithful mem-
ber of the Belmore United Church,
and a valued member of its choir.
He also belonged to the Masonic
Order.
He is survived by one son, Jack,
of Owen Sound; three brothers,
Albent• Aitken, Seattle, Wash.; Dr,
E. S. Aitken, Toronto; Hartley Ait-
ken, Moose Jaw, Sask.; and two
sisters, Miss Mary Aitken and Mrs.
Elizabeth Ansley, both of Toronto.
He was predeceased by a brother,
Thomas Malcolm Aitken, of Eb-
row, Sask., and a sister, Mrs. Neil
(Agnes) Reid, Chesley,
Service will be held at the R. A.
Currie &s. Sons funeral home in
Whighain today (Wedriei'claY) 'at
1.30 p.m., with Rev. G. Howard
Pace, of the Belmore. United
Church officiating. Interment will
be in,the Wingham 'Cemetery. Pall-
bearers will be George Inglis, Ivan
Haskins, Ken Dickson, Eldon Ren-
wick, Wilfred Johann and Thomas
Inglis.

A resident of this district for
many years before moving to
Waterloo in 1948, Arthur John
Ferguson parsed away at the
Waterloo Hospital on Sunday, Oc-
tober 23, after a lengthy illness_
A. J. Ferguson was, in his 75th
year and was horn in Auburn, the
son of the late John Ferguson and
Julia Case, Forty-nine years ago
he was married to Carrie Stewart
of Wingham. , He purchased the
the furniture and undertaking
business from the late Mr. Letup,
and was in business in this district
until he retired to Waterloo. He
was a member of the Waterloo
United Church.
Besides wife, he is survived
by one son, Stewart of Elmvale
and one daughter, Mrs. Ray Mar-
garet) O'Neill, of Jasper, Alberta,
and six grandchildren. Also broth-
ers, Lloyd of Goderich and Ray-
mond of Montreal and five sisters,
Mrs. Hattie Taylor, Victoria, B.C.,
Mrs. Cora Durham and Miss May
Ferguson of Brantford, Mrs. Ches-
ter (Alberda) Taylor of St. Helens
and Mrs. Maud Fremlin of Auburn.
The funeral was held on Wednes-
day, October 26 at the Good's fun-
' era' home, Waterloo, with burial
in Wingham cemetery.
