ham, were read by the secretary,

and Larry, accompanied the form-
er's son, Mr. Mac Hutchison, of
Toronto, on a visit to Dr. James
Hutchison in Cleveland, Ohio, re-
turning last week.
Household furniture belonging to
Miss Margaret Dane was sold by
auction at the arena on Wednesday
afternoon. Miss Dane has rented
her house to Mr. Alex Graham,
who is moving in this week.
Mr. 'and Mrs. Win. Lockhart, of
Woodstock, spent Wednesday with
friends here.
Miss Beatrice Taylor, London,
and Miss Aimee Taylor from Eng-
land, visited- their cousin, Mr. H.
V. Holmes on Saturday. They were
accompanied ,by Miss Marion Ellis,
of London.
Mr. and Mrs. Alex Petrie and
Mrs. Agnes Hooper visited with
Mr. and Mrs. Stan Elliott in Lis-
towel on Sunday, October 23rd. It
was a birthday celebration for Mrs,
Hooper, who was 89 that day.
Mrs. Arthur 'Dietrich,- Windsor,
and Mrs. Olive Will, Leamington,
spent the week-end at the home of
Mr. and Mrs. Justin Will. Mrs.
Dietrich returned home after
spending three weeks in Wingham
Hospital.
Mrs. Jas. Edwards, Mrs. Fred
Hyndnian, Mrs. Roy Gowdy and
Mrs. Harry Gowdy were guests of
Mrs. Les Davidson in Listowel on
Wednesday afternoon last week.
Mrs, Glad Edgar spent a couple
of days last week with Mrs. Don
Williamson at Maple,
Mr, Peter tGerkis, of Sioux Look-
out, Ont., spent a few days with
Mr.' and Mrs. Clarence Sparling last
week.
Prior to her marriage on, Satur-
day to Mr. Norman Sitzes, of Pe-
trone, Wilmajean Edgar was en-
tertained at two miscellaneous
showers. 'On Monday night of last
week 'Miss JudytSmith was hostess
at her home and on Wednesday
night Mrs. Wellesley Strong was
hostess at her home.
Mr. and Mrs. Wilfred Gadcke, of
Georgetown, visited Mr. and Mrs,
Clarence Sparling on Saturday.

The bride' is the daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Hyman T. Holbert. The
groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs.
Moses Brown, of Wingham and
Toronto. He attended school here
and is now practising law in Tor-
onto.
Dr. Alexander Nimmo and Mrs.
Nimmo were guests at the wedding.

GORRIE .— Rev. Graham Leth-
bridge,•of London, was the speaker
at the Second Deanery Steward-
ship meeting on Wednesday even-
ing. Those in attendance were from
Seaforth and Dungannon.-
The congregational pot luck sup-
per will be held Friday evening,
November 4, in the community hall
at 7.15 p.m.
The Evening Auxiliary will meet
for their November meeting Wed-
nesday, November 2, at the home
of Mrs. Wm. Bennett at 8.30 p.m.
with. Mr. and Mrs. Ernest King.
Miss Marion Robinson was home
from Kitchener for the week-end.

day attending the funeral of an
aunt, Mrs. Jas. Wake.

family were in Mount Forest where
they attended opening aervices in

spent the remainder of the day

Harrtston.
Mr. Lloyd Hunt underwent a
tonsilectomy in Palmerston Hos-
pital on Monday.

and Mr. and Mrs. Jack Edgar.
Kitchener, were week-end visitors'
with their parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Harvey ,Coupland,

family spent Sunday with Mr. and
Mrs. Elmer Farrish, Gorrie.
Mr. and Mrs. Bill Brown have
purchased the home of the late
Mrs. Irene Dane and will move in
the near future.
Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Reidt, Willow-
dale, were visitors over the week-
end with Mr. and Mrs. Harvey
Reidt.

Sparling were week-end guests of
Mr. and Mrs. Blair Sharp and

A successful auction sale of the
manse furniture was held in the
arena last Friday with a fair
crowd in attendance.
Local 'church ladies catered to
the county employees and their
wives last Tuesday eevning in the
community hall when a delicious
turkey dinner was served.'
Calder, of London, diocesan presi-
dent, gave some of her impressions
of the dominion annual held this
year hi Ottawa. The primate spoke
at the evening service in the cath-
edral, with his text, "Sira we would
see Jesus", laying stress on the
spiritual side of missionary work
and this was the keynote of all the
Hallowe'en Party

The annual' Sunday School Nal-
lowe'en party 'was held in St. Paul's
Parish ball on Friday evening. R.
A. Higgins, S.S. superintendent, was.
in charge at games. and Mrs. 'Wil-
liam 'Elliott was planiat for the
evening. Lunch was :served by
teachers, and ladies of the parish.
The following prizes were award-
cd: Beat costume, Marilyn Higgins;
'beat dressed couple, Linda and Jef-
frey Lockridge; best comic cos-
tume,' Laura Deneau; best nation-
al costume, Mary Austin; youngeat
child present, Richard Picitford.
SURPRISE PARTY
AT HOLMES' SCHOOL
A surprise party was held at
Holmes' School, Friday night, to
bid farewell to Mr, and Mrs. John
MeiCormick before they move to
Wingham.
Progressive euchre was played.
Mrs, Bill Templernan held high
score and Chester Casemore was
high for‘men. Mrs. William Schies-
tel and Art Furness, had low
points.
After a delicious lunch was serv-
ed Mr. and. Mrs. McCormick were
called and an appropriate address
was read by Jim ,King. Mr. and
Mrs, McCormick were presented
with a triliglit, smoker and serving
dish by Mrs. Wilfrid McKague and
Mae King,
Mr. McCormick thanked every-
one and dancing was enjoyed.
Friends attended from Ingersoll,
Guelph and St. Jacob's and the
district.
New Appointments
Malcolm '1Mac" Allan, manager
of the Bank of Montreal's St. Peter
and St. James Streets branch, Mon-
treal, was recently appointed presi-
dent and "cashier of the Bank, of
Montreal (San Francisco). Mr.
Allan is a former resident of Tees-
water and Wroxeter. His father
was station agent in the latter vil-
lage and Mr, Allan ,still spends his
summer vacations at Wroxeter,
• Another former Teeswater 'resi-
dent, John S. 'Hughes, manager of
the B of M's Sun Life Building
branch ih Montreal, will succeed
Mr. Allan as manager of the St.
Peter and St. James Streets branch.
Mr, Hughes spent his 'boyhood in
Teeswater, where his father op-
erated a general tstore.
Huron Deanery W.A. Holds
Fall Gathering at Seaforth
The fall meeting of the W.A. of
Huron Deanery was held in St.
Thomas' Anglican'Church, Sea-
forth, on Thursday afternoon.
Members were present from most
of the branches and the deanery
president, Mrs. Hunt, of Goderich,
presided. After the opening prayers
a welcome was extended by Mrs.
McGavin and the roll called. Mrs. meetings. Hunt welcomed Mrs. Jennings, of

special place in the work of the
Church, To mark this anniversary
the W.A., set out to raise $75,000
as a special Thankoffering, Con-
siderably more than this was rais-
ed and will be used for special
purposes. Delegates were urged to
turn their thoughts to the future
where so much waits to be done, in
both, foreign and home missions.
A special appeal is for the An-
glican Training College, to provide
moro facilities for training young
women for work in the mission
fields. A new policy is to be adopt-
ed whereby all missionary work is
to be consolidated under one board
and .all appeals dealt with by one
committee, All money and bales are
to be generalized so all mission-
aries receive equalized stipends and
supplies.

vice work were called to attention.
The Dorcas work entails the sup-
plying of bales for Indian schools
and for hospital supplies; Chris-
tian education brings to attention
the different workshops held and
the instruction given in the Church
and its work in local parish duties.
