FORDWICH--The Fordwich WP-
men's Institute met at the home
of Mrs. Anson Demerling with tha
president, Mrs. A, Demerling, in
charge. Meeting opened with• the
Ode, Mary Stewart Collect and
Lord's Prayer. Mrs, Nina Arm-
strong had charge of devotions.
Minutes were read by Mrs, Robert
Gibson. Roll call "What annoys
Me moat at Public Meetings", was
answered by 35 members and
brought forth some worthwhile ad-
vice.,
Plans were made to hold a turkey
supper in November. Committee
for planning the menu, Mrs. John
Craig, Mrs, W. M. Campbell, Mrs.
Emma Williamson, Mrs, Stan
Bride, Mrs. Anson Demerling and
Mrs. Roht. Gibson.
A report of the •county rally at
Auburn was given by Mrs, Crosby
Sothern. Two highlights at the
Rally were, the foundation of a
Huron County W,I, Bursary to the
Children's' Aid Society and assis-
tance to the Clinton Home for the
Aged and the C.N.I.B. Reports
of the Guelph Area. Convention
were given by Mrs. Anson Demer-
ling and Mrs, Emma Williamson.
Mrs. Stanley Bride, chairman of
Guelph Area, gave her talk with
the lighthouse, The theme of the
convention was "How far that little
candle throws his beam, so shines
a good deed in a naughty world,"
This carried out the thought of
public relations.
Mrs. Robert Gibson• gave the
motto, "In regard to tenacity of
life, no old yellow,cat has anything
on a prejudice. You may kill it
with your own hands, bury it deep
and sit on the grave and behold
the next day it will walk in the
back door purring".
Mrs. Wellington Hargrave gave
current ,events. Music was given
by Mrs. Lyle Murray and four
girls from the senior room of
Fordwich Public School, The girls
were Karen Carswell, Jean Browne,
Anne Stieves and Jean Lawrence.
They sang "A Mexican Love Song'('
and "Slumber". Mrs. Johh Craig,
vice-president, closed the meeting
and four members served a de-
licious lunch'.

Rev. E. C. Attwell officiated on
Saturday afternoon at Trialty An-
glican Church. for the wedding of
Grace Louise 'Browne, daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Peter Browne, of
Fordwich, and James Perry Strong,
son of Mr. and Mrs. John Strong,'
of .Gorrie. Miss Pauline Sathern•
sang "Wedding' Prayer" and "0
Perfect Live";The church was, dec-
orated with baskets of pink and
white chry,-aanth.einums.
The bride chose a floor-length
gown Of white embroidered nylon
lace over satin with a Peter Pan
collar trimmed with pearls and se,
quins and styled with an empire
waistline and bouffant skirt. A cap
of white rosebuds. caught the fin-
ger-tip veil and she carried a cas-
cade of pink Sweetheart roses and
white stephanotis. Mr. Browne
gave his daughter's hand in mar-
riage,
.In identical gowns of turquoise
velvet with matching feather head-
bands, Mrs. Gordon Bridge, of Pal-
merston, acted as matron of honer
and Miss Marie Browne, Forciwieh,
sister of the bride, as bridesmaid.
They carried cascade bouquets
pink and white carnations,
Robert Strong was his brother's
groomsman and the ushers were
Douglas Browne, Fordwich, bro-
ther of the bride, and. Alex. Strong,
Gorrie, brother of the groom. ,
Guests were present from Wal-
laceburg, London, Brussels, Ux-
bridge, Kitchener, Wiilowdale,
Thornhill, Green River, Winghain,
Listowel and Gorrie. The reception
was in the church baseMent and
the bride's mother received. She
wore a beige jacket dress with
matching accessories, Assisting was
the groom's mother, attired in !bro-
caded aqua and matching accessor-
ies. Each had a corsage of pink
roses, .
The bride's travelling ensemble
was a brown suit with brown and
green accessories. Her corsage was
pink Sweetheart roses.
Mr. and Mrs. Strong will live 'on
a farm, R. R. 1, Gorrie,
Thursday, but Sunday night capped
the climax and residents awoke to
see two or three inches on the
ground Mpnday morning, Many ,of
the trees were still in full color
and the fall flowers were at their
best. So far, reports indicate that
only those ander 12 years of age
were pleased,
A very pretty autumn wedding
took place on Saturday afternoon
at St. Paul's Anglican Church when
Donna Isabelle Metcalfe of Wing-
ham and Tony Roy Wagstaff of
Vancouver, B.C., exchanged 'wed-
ding vows. Rev, ,C. F, Johnson
performed the ceremony and Mrs.
Gordon Davidson presided at the
organ. The wedding hymns sung
were, "0 Perfect Love" and "We
Lift Our Hearts, 0 Father",
The bride's parents are Mr.. and
Mrs. Isaac Metcalfe of Wingham.
The groom is a member of the
Royal Canadian Mounted Police,
the son of Mr. and Mrs. 'Sidney
Wagstaff of Vancouver,
Mr. Metcalfe gave his daughter
in marriage. She chose a floor-
length gown of rosepoint lace over
white taffeta. Her finger-tip veil
was held by a rhinestone tiara and
she carried a bouquet of red car-
nations.
She was attended by Florence
Jackson of Etobicoke as maid of
honor, and Verlie Metcalfe of
Wingham and Annabelle Tone of

Mr. and Mrs. Tom Hutchison are
spending a few days with Dr. Jim
Hutchison in Cleveland, Ohio.

Sunday with Mrs. Jennie Mosure.
Mr. and Mrs. Earl Moore visited
Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Jack
Bricker in Baden.
Mr. and Mrs. Carl Stewart and
Douglas of Listowel visited Sunday

Miss Velma Eurig and Mr. Vern
Jacobson visited with the former's
grandfather Mr. John Eurig, who
is confined to St. Mary's Hospital
in Kitchener.
The sympathy of the community
is extended to Mr. Len Wilson, in
the passing of his daughter, last
week at Toronto.

and Mrs. Graham Clyde of Lis-

The many friends of Mrs. Winnie
Downey will be sorry to hear she
is at present confined to Listowel

identical knee-length dresses of
white organza with red cummer-
bunds, red gloves, white shoes and
hats with illusion veils and car-
ried white and red carnations.
George Ernest Metcalfe of Wing-
ham was the best man and the
ushers were Jim Douglas of Ford-
wich and Don Eadie, Wingham.
A reception followed in Belmore,
when the guests were' rebeived by
the bride's mothtT, who wore royal
Ude lace and a corsage of amber
roses.
The young couple left on a wed-
ding trip to Prince Edward Island,
For travelling Mrs. Metcalfe wore
a red wool sheath with black ac-
cessories. They will live in Tor-
onto,
Out-of-town guests were Mr.
and Mrs. A. Tone, Mr.- and Mrs.
G. Shaw, Mrs. M. Martin and
daughter, Mrs. S. Shaw, Mr. and
Mrs. G. Walton, Mr. and Mrs.

Miss Sheila McKenna.

up some 110W and Mrs. Jack Arm-
