ior' football, Wingham ;Mustangs
defeated Clinton Redrne.n by a
score of 26 to 6. It was Wingham's
third straight • viotoryia
Clinton led in the first 'quarter
by a score of 6 to 0' on a-touch-
down by Livermore, which was not
converted.
-In the seeend quarter, the Mus-
tangs started' to roll, Three touch-
downs were marked on the Score-
board for Wingham. They were
scored by Howard,' on a- hand-off
from. , the sub quarterback Mac-
Dowell, by MacDonald on a pass
play, and by Willie who recovered
a !unable made by Clinton in their
end zone. Two of the• three con-
verts failed. To end the scoring in
this quarter, the hard-driving Mus-
tangs collected 46 points in three
safeties. Clinton was harassed by
fumbles which put them behind.
The only score tabulated in the
third and fourth quarters was a
single kicked by Carmichael of
Wingham. Both of these quarters
were penalty-ridden for both sides
and Wingham suffered many in-
juries also.
• As the whistle blew to finish the
game, the final score stood: Wing-
ham 'Mustangs 26, Clinton Red-
men 6,

Ladies' Bowling
Here we are again with another
report of Ladies' Wednesday night
bowling. There was a close running
for high single as Hilda Brown and
Gwen MacLaurin both 'bowled a
222 game, only to be beaten by
Joyce Langridge, who 'scored with
230. Marg. Jamieson took the heti-
ors for high triple, with a 556
total,.
The team standings are as fol.-

Mary Campbell's Zooming Zeb-
ras are zooming right along with
11 points to their credit; Gwen
MacLaurin's Krazy Kats are in sec-
ond place with a total of '7 points;
Lila Hickey's Tired Tigers are a
close third with a total of 6; Thel-
ma Rowsell's Busy Beavers, Helen
Gardner's Slippery Seals and Ro-
berta Seddon's Lazy Leopards,
who snuck in 3 points, .are all tied
for fourth with 4 points each.

holidays, the boys have finally

GORRIE---Mr, and Mrs, George
Brown celebrated their silver wed-
ding anniversary on Sunday when
over 80 relatives and friends gath-
ered in the Gorrie community hail
in the afternoon.
The tables were decorated with
autumn flowers centred with a
three-tiered wedding cake. Guests
were present from London, Kitch-
ener, Stratford, Listowel, Moles-
wroth, Whitechurch, Delmore,
Brussels, Wingham and Wroxeter.
Mr. and Mrs. Brown have two
children, John, of Oshawa, and
Jean, at home. They have been
residents of Gorrie for
years.

GORRIE- At the Sunday morn-
ing service at St. Stephen's Church
Lori Anne, daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. John Stafford, was received
'into the church by baptism. the
rector, Rev. E. C. Attwell, officiat-
ing.
Sunday next, October 23rd, will
be Layman's Sunday and laymen
of the parish will take part in the
service, which is being held in St.
Stephen's,

their October meeting at the borne
of Mrs, John Dinsmore. Roll call

will be kept and totalled. The
teams position at the end of the
year will be determined by the
number of points that they have
gathered throughout the season

In the first night's bowling Ross
Hamilton, 'of the CKNX team, with
a 295 and Ken Crawford, of Lee's
team, with a 294, set the pace for
the evening with the high singles.
Charlie Perrott, • of Burke's team,
had the top score for three games
with a 746 total.
BELGRAVE - The local inter-
mediates won the la championship
with a 9-0 win over Baden in the
fourth game on October 7..1. Coul-
ter hurled a two-bit masterpiece
for Belgrave. •
This victory put Belgrave in the
running against Tara in. a best of
three series for the Western On-
tario Grand Championship, with
the first game In Desboro last
Thursday night and the return
game in Wingham on Saturday.
The gamer with Baden previous
to the deciding game resulted 'as
follows;
In Baden on October 1 the locals
were victorious 8-5. MacDonald and
Dow had two hits each. Baden de-
teated Belgrave 4-2 in Wingham, to
even the scare at one gaine each
and Belgrave went one game up,in
the third of the best of five series
with a '7-0 score. MacDonald pitch-
ed a neat two-hitter in this game
and Tem Robinson had three hits
for the Belgrave boys.
Bride-Elect Feted
GORRIB—A miscellaneous show-
er was held at the home of Mrs.
Pill Strongeon Friday evening for
Miss Louise Brown, of Fordwieh, a
'bride-to-be. Mrs, Jack Currie,
Whitechurch, and Miss Joanne
Strohg assisted. Two contests were
enjoyed, also looking at the bride's
book,
JR. FARMERS HEAR
OF TRIP TO RUSSIA
• GORRIE—Howick Junior Farm-
ers' banquet was held in the Gorrie
community hall on Wednesday
evening, Following the banquet, for
which members of the Gorrie Wo-
men's Institute catered, each mem-
ber introduced himself and his
parentS or friend.
Doug. Miles, agricultural repre-
sentative and Miss Bette Tillman,
home economist, of Clinton, both
said a few words to the group. Jim
Bowman, president Huron County
Junior Farmers, brought greetings
from the county executive. Mrs.
Carl Douglas and Wayne provided
two lovely duets. A lively singsong
started the program.
Murray Mulvey, club president,
was chairman for the evening and
introduced the guest speaker,
Vaughan Douglas, who gave a most
interesting account of his recent
visit to Russia. The club paper and
the National Anthem closed the
evening's entertainment.

Windsor last week attending a
conference for clergy. Mrs. Attwell,

Mrs, Gordon Underwood was
taken to Palmerston Hospital last
FrldaY evening, Mrs. Ewart Whit-
field returned home on Wednesday
of last week and is gaining nicely.
Mr, Stan Douglas spent a day
last week at the ploughing match
at Springfield. Mr. and Mrs. Jos. Bennett have
moved into their home in the vil-
lage.
Mr. and Mrs. Jack Gerrie, liar-
riston, visited on Friday with Mr.
and Mrs.'111. H. Strong. Mrs. Mar-
tha Baker, Fordwich, was a week-
end guest at the some home, also
with Mrs. Frances Strong and
Roy.
Mr. and Mrs, Earl Cedmore,
Brussels, were guests with Mr. and
Mrs. Bill Nay on Friday.

Mr. and Mrs, August Ken and
Mr, and Mrs, .Bill Strong spent a
day last week in Kitchener.
A film will be shown in the
Presbyterian Church, Gorrie, at 8
p.m. Sunday entitled "The Bible in
Japan”: Everyone is invited to see
this film in connection with Bible
Society work. At this meeting of
the Gorrie branch, collectors' re-
ceipt books will be handed put. The
officers and canvassers are being
asked to carry on for another year.
Visitors last week with Mr. and
Mrs. Albert Heibein and Mr: and
Mrs. Cecil 'Grainger were Mr, and
Mrs. L. Hamilton and daugh-
ter, Mrs. 'Robert Gourlay, of Van-
couver:B,C, Mrs. Hamilton is the
former Lehi 1VIeLatighlin, a daugh-
ter of the late James McLaughlin,
of Gorrie,, They resided in the
home 'now owned by Miss Emma
Irwin. This is the first time she
has returned to Gorrie since leav-
ing fifty years ago.
A wedding of interest here was
solemnized in Harriston on Satur-
day, 'Oct. 8, in the United Church
when Ruth Doreen Binns, of R, R,
4, Harriston, and John Edward
Lerch, of Harriston, were married.
The couple 'will reside on the
groom's farm, the former Roy
Strong farm, near Gorrie.
Mrs. Arnott, of Arthur,
was a guest of Mrs. Carl Gregg
over the week-end.
Mr. and Mrs. Norman. Wade
have returned from visiting their'
son, Mr. Robert Wade, and Mrs.
Wade in Montreal, They also visit-
ed Mrs, Edith Jones at Brighton.

Couple's Parents
Married 35 Years
GORRIE — 'Sunday Mr. and
Don" Irwin entertained rela-
tives at a turkey dinner to Cele-
'brate the 35th wedding anniversary
of their parents, both of which fall
in October. It was a complete sur-
prise to the celebrants, Mr. and
Mrs. Claus O'Krafka, parents of
Mrs. Irwin and to Mr. and Mrs.
Manfred Irwin, parents of Don.
Both have been residents of Gorrie
for many years,
The 'O'Krafkas came here from
Elmira and the Irwins resided near
Orange Hill before coming .to
Gorrie. Many friends will join in
