are the bodies for the entire 1961
Oldsmobile range. Oldsmobile of-
fers a distinctively different 'body
for the top-line 98. •
While 1961 styling gives 'the cars
a long look, overall length and
width have actually been reduced.
The Dynamic 88 and Super 88 are
5,6 inches shorter than 1960 models.
Although interior widths remain
approximately the same, exterior
width is 3.8 inches less,
In all series, headroom has been
substantially increased in hardtop
models and is ample in ail body
Styles. Rear seat legroom has been
retained and, in many instances,
improved over last year. Overall
length of the 98 has been reduced
three Inches and outside width of
this series has also been reduced
3.8 inches.
Passenger comfort is improved by
increasing the cushion depth and
chair height for both front and
rear seats. Door openings in both
front and rear have been widened,
and the new windshield design
brings with its straight, slanted.

Oldsmobile Features New Oulu Stoles
OSHAVVA, Ont.—Eighteen differ-
ent models will he offered in the
fUll-size Oldsmobile line for 1961,
incorporating striking changes in
styling and design, Qeneral Motors
of Canada, Limited, has announeed.
The •cars are shorter and narrower
mains about the same, or better,
than comparable 1960 models, aid-
ing comfort Is improved.
Revised styling of the Corvette
reflects the influence of Chevro-
let's recently displayed XP-700
experimental vehicle, especially in
its streamlined rear quarters, A
new underbody which Wilma the
transmission hump, better engine
cooling and use of an aluMinUm
transmission case are some of the
other features.
As in 190, Chevrolet's conven-
tional-sized passenger ears will be
offered in the Impala, Bel Air and
Biscayne series. But, they have
been expanded to include an Im-
pala two-door Sedan, not previous-
ly available.
The station wagon series also
has been expanded to a choice of
either six or nine-passenger ac-
commodations in each—the Nomad,
Parkwood and Brookwood.
The small, triangular windows at
the rear of four-door sedans and
station wagons have been elimin-
ated. Also, the rear corner pillars
of sport sedans have been widened
to create a slightly hooded effect.

Other significant chassis features
are a completely new Guard-Beam
frame design, with box-section

front suspension has been modified
and improved by the addition of

surfaces. Front suspension lubri-
cation points have been reduced
from 12 'to four, so that periodic
inbrication is required only at the
ball. joints, A newly-designed four-
link stabilized coil suspension is
'used' in 'the rear, producing a soft-
er, ride with less turn roll
and minimum dipping when accc1-•
grating or braking.
