- There is a little doll house, about

Eleven Weeks of Camp
The Camp opens about the third
week of June and there are 11
weeks open for .children—two for
junior boys, three for senior boys,
the same for girls and 10 days for
adults at the end of camp. AS each
group leaves the recreation build-
ing is gaily decorated, the campers
seven those in wheel chairs and
most afflicted) and the staff put
on a program and this is followed
by a big banquet to bring to an end
probably the happiest weeks of
their year. They look back fondly
to their "vacation" and look for-
ward eagerly to- next year, when
they will return .to meet old friends
and greet new.
They have a heated swimming
pool which many enjoy, and appar-
ently no matter how badly afflicted
they take part in this sport which
also aids in their therapy program.
Although the outdoor temperature
was only 54 degrees, the pool was
73 the day we visited. One girl was
so badly crippled she had to wheel
a buggy-like frame ahead of her to
keep her balance and it took her
such a long time to get to her
cabin, but she had been swimming.
I saw a girl swimming—the last to
leave the pool----with as quick and
sure strides as anyone and was
simply amazed when she came out
to see she only had one leg. She
threw her arms over the crutches
and struck off to her cabin with a
"It's gram' in the water, but
br-r-r it's cold out here' and with
that left quicker than many with
their own limbs. Another in a
wheel chair refused help to get up
a ramp saying "I picked the most
difficult to prove I could do it".
Many of us could learn a lesson in
perseverance from these brave
people.
Miss Haines and Miss Mitchell
who accompanied us on the tour
told us they usually have about 60
children and 35 adults in a season.
At one time they had two comps,
one in summer and one in winter,
which included therapy but the
latter is now done at the new
building on Hill Street adjoining
War Memorial Children's Hospital
at Victoria. I hope one day to tour
this, too, but we did not have time
the day we were at Woodeden.

This is a lovely place in a beauti-
ful, natural setting with a winding
drive in from the highway near
Kilworth, and about 15 miles from
London, Ont, The driveway to Lhe
camp is like something you would
expect in the north -country, with
many trees giving a peaceful and
restful appearance and as you get
nearer the buildings are surrounded
with :beautiful flowers, lily ponds,
volley ball courts, etc.
Now we see the Camp itself --a
quaint rustic-type stone house
where the office is located, a
spacious lounge and lovely dining
room, an infirmary and officers'
quarters. There are 43, including six
volunteer councillors and a night
\coachman on staff, with nine
cabins for campers, one for kit-
chen staff and a lovely big recrea-
tion building, They all have win-
dow boxes of flowers giving it a
hornisy' atmoSphere and the lawns
are well kept.
Each cabin has two four-bed
rooms and bath for the campers
an'l bedroom, sitting room and
bath at back for two councillors.
There is one arts and crafts
cabin and it is remarkable what
wonderful things even those with
hand handicaps can snake. Those
with the use of their hands can
turn out almost professional work.
