Couples' Club held the first meeting
for the fall last Tuesday evening
The call to worship was given by
the president, followed by the
hymn "Jesus Calls Us, O'er the
Tumult." Fred McGee read the
Scripture and Dr, A, Nimmo led in
prayer,
John Donaldson favoured with a
Solo and the minutes were read
and the roil called, It was decided
to accept the invitation of the
Wingham United Church Couples'
Club to join them for their October
meeting. The offering was received
with Mrs. Redmond MacDonald
giving the offertory prayer.
Mrs. Robert McKague introduced
the guest speaker, Dr. W. A. Mc-
Kibbon, who chose as his topic,
"Doctors, Drugs and Devils,a which

Irma Forster, whose marriage to
Ross Henderson of Lucknow takes
place in the Whitechurch Presby-

Mrs. Don Cameron 'addressed a
reading of good wishes to the
bride-elect, who was assisted in
opening the many lovely gifts by
her sisters, and by Mrs. Cameron,
Lois Miller and Patsy Foran, Irma
expressed her thanks and invited
the ladies to her trousseau tea on
Tuesday evening.
The singing of "For she's a jolly
good fellow" folloWed by lunch, medicine from early Biblical times
to the present day, He was thanked
by Mrs, Bruce MacDonald.
The meeting came to an end with
the singing of the hymn, "Blest Be
the Tie That Binds". Lunch was
served.

Glenn Eagle performed a ceremony
at 2.30 Saturday afternoon. The
bride was Gladys 'Mae Musgrove,
daughter of Wire. Sarah :Musgrove,
of Wroxeter, and the late Mr. Zane-
grove, and' the groom, Sgt. Floyd,
James Ellis, Camp Piton, Ont., eon.

The bride wore a dress of blue
silk organza with matching hat and
navy accessories, Her matron of
honor was. Mrs. Sidney Adamson,
Kitchener, who chose a blue bro-
eade sheath with royal blue acces-
sories, The bride's flowers were a
Corsage of white roses and carna-
tions, .and those of the matron of
honor were similar.

mediate relatives of the bride's

The Women's Missionary Society
of iBelgrave United Church met on
Wednesday afternoon at the home
of Mrs, Ira Neil with 18 ladies pm-
sent. Mrs. Earl Fitch was leader,
Psalm 693 was read responsively,
followed by prayer a hymn and
Bible reading.
A very interesting discussion
took place, Why Sunday?" as a
citizenship conceal. Mrs, Simmons
gave a reading on citizenship and
Mrs. Neil gave one on temperance.
Mrs. Doubledee read a chapter in
the study book, "Africa Disturbed".
The roll call was answered with a
favorite verse in the Bible.
The secretary's report was read

DAINTY DOLLS
START PROJECT
The first meeting of the Belmore
4-H Homemaking Club for the fall
project "The Club Girl Entertains"
was held at the Women's Insti-
tute room, Belmore, on Tuesday
evening of last week. with 14 girls
attending.
Under the leadership of Mrs.
Oscar Kieffer and Mrs. Glen Apple-
by the election of officers took
place. The results were; Pres.,
Mrs, Ralph Dickison; vice pros.,
Sally Jeffray; secretary, Irene
Doubledee; treas,, Connie Cammer-
on; press reporter, Georgina Kief-
fer. A name for the club was
discussed and it was decided to
name it Belmore Dainty Dolls. It
was planned to meet next on Oct.
8th at 1.30 p.m. at Belmore.
Mrs, Kieffer outlined the club
members' requirements and record
books, Working methods were dis-
cussed under cleanliness, dishwash-
ing, abbreviations in _recipe and
temperatures.
Mrs. Appleby then took over the
topic of hospitality in regard to
entertaining at home,
Mrs, Kieffer gave a demonstra-
tion in proper measurements given
by Norma Harper and Lois Sim-
mons, Then a very interesting
demonstration was given by Mrs.
Appleby on flower arrangement.
The leaders gave the girls a group
of flower arrangements to judge.
This was followed by practice in
measuring with ail members tak-
ing part.
HURON PRESBYTERY
ELECTS CHAIRMAN
Rev. 0, L. Mills, minister of On-
tario Street United Church, Clinton,•
was elected chairman of Huron
Presbytery, He succeeds Rev. A, E.
Eustace, of North Street United
Church, Goderich, who leaves the
Presbytery next month to become
minister of the congregation of
Empress Avenue United Church in
London.
Other new appointments in the
Presbytery were Rev, S. E. Lewis,
James Street United Church, Ex-
eter, as convener of the Committee
of Colleges and Students; Rev. 3.
Swart Clarke, of Gorrie-Wroxeter,
as convener of the Radio and Tele-
vision Committee, and Rev. A. H.
Johnston, of Brucefield-Kippen, to
the Rural Life Committee.
J. 7I, Kinkead, of Goderich, ad-
dressed the Presbytery concerning
the 'Capital laindeappeal. To date
$7,990,00 has been received in this
appeal, Rev. A. E. Eustace, who
presided over the meeting, spoke
of the sessions of the General
Council of the church which met
recently in Edmonton and to which
he was a delegate. $80,000.00 was
accepted as the objective for the
Missionary and Maintenance Fund
for the Presbytery. It was also an-
nounced that Dr. Robert MeLure,
medical missionary on furlough
froth ,Rattan, India, will be in Ex-
eter on October 21st to address a
public meeting.
A call from the North Street,
United 'Church, Goderich, to Rev.
William J. ten Hoopoe, of Renfrew
Presbytery, was sustained. Rev. E.
J. Roulston was appointed retired
supply for the Wesley-Willis con-
gregation in Clinton.

held at the O.A.C. last week. Mrs
Bride is Guelph area chairman.
The theme of the meeting, "How

During August
District N. 6 Provincial Police
report three fatal accidents dur-
ing the month of August, in widen
three pereone lost their livee. There
were 183 aceiclenta of all Kinds,
causing injury to a total of 92.
Vehicle checks were made on
6,808 cars and trucks, 2,960 warn-
ings were issued and 982 charges
were laid, Speeding charges ac-
counted for 479; careless driving,
58; overweight loads, 20; infringe-
ments of the rules of the road, 155;
failure to remain at the scene of
an accident, 3; driving while pro-
hibited, 8; without operators' li-
censes, 49; failure to report acci-
dents, 4; criminal negligence, 2;
' driving while intoxicated, 1; abil-
ity impaired, 15.
