County Anticipates
Budgetary Surplus
Reporting to the one-day session
of County Council last week, Clerk-
Treasurer John Berry said. that
the financial status of the County
is very good at present and that it
is expected a surplus of $26,051 will
be realized at the end of the fiscal
year. This amount will be in ad-
dition to a $40,000 reserve fund
which is being started .for hospi-
tal building grants within the
county, as and when they are
needed. It is estimated that total
revenue for the year will amount
to $1,698,081, while expenditures are
not expected to exceed $1,672,930.
The county's historic committee
reported on the work which had
been undertaken to improve the
site at the Dunlop Tomb, where a
plaque was recently dedicated. The
chief expendittire by the county in
this project was the purchase of
the new inscribed stone which cov-
ers the graves. The outlay for this
item was $650, The same commit-
tee reported on the progress of the
county history, the manuscript for
which is expected to be completed
by'the end of the year.
The county home committee's re-
port mentioned several changes
which have been found necessary
in the construction of the new
wing, since the plans were first
drawn. Due to the requirements
of the Department of Welfare a
registered nurse was engaged to
take charge of nursing at the
home.. The new employee is Mrs.
Jean Jacobs of Clinton.

in the following resolutions from
other councils: Perth County, urg-

Tom Matson has lived his life the way he likes,
sailing his Great Lakes steamer through the
maze of rivers, lakes and canals from the Lake-
head to the St. Lawrence. After retirement next
year, he's going to go on sailing in his own trim
craft ... a happy plan made possible by banking
his savings regularly.
Mary Parsons doesn't know port from starboard
but she keeps a very shipshape home. Paying bills
through: her Personal Chequing Account gives
her a firm hold on household expenses and helps
her save too.
Two very different people, but both of them find
the friendly, courteous service of The Canadian
tank of Commerce a real help in planning their
futures and enjoying the rewards of their work.
